Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. This is an extremely dark red-brown beer. It has red currant and rich deep red fruit flavours, slight roasted notes and marzipan and orange marmalade on the finish. This is a cross between an brown ale and a Barley Wine. Superb!

Wow, really good brown ale. Served a bit too cold for my personal taste, with a medium sized light tan head that soon settled to a light cover and loads of lace. Color is a clear, deep mahoganey. Aroma is malt, toffee, cocoa, slight roast and mocha. Flavor is very similar to taste with a little carbonic tang and extremely well balanced, very true to style. Body & carbonation are faultless. Finish is short to average in length. Deceivingly drinkable.

Nice deep, somewhat clear dark chestnut brown color with slivers of orangey red. Solid cream colored finger high head of cappuccino froth, retains for a wee bit before fading to a crumbly collar and lace in minimal strings and spots. Aroma has a solid roastyness to it thats close to coffee, but seems more like espresso, not all that strong, a definate moderate presense with an overall dry quality, it also has a little touch of sweet molasses and chocolate in there mixing with a bit of hazelnut and vanilla. Great subtle nose. Taste is semi sweet malts with a slight roastyness mostly coming through at the finish but withholds throughout and within the ride lies some nice subtle notes of vanila and nuts. The roastyness is quite nice, milding and toasty surrounded by a chocolatey cookie dough sweetness. Quite nice. Ends clean and dry with lingering qualities wrapped up in sweet roasted malts and chocolate. Feel is medium bodied with a clean substantiated roastyness thats mild and well rounded with a small dry finish that holds some lingering sweet yet roasty tones. An excellent drinkin' brown, a bit more boldness and fullness within the flavors and this would be supurb stuff. That said, this is still a very nice brown. One I wouldn't turn down for nothing!

On tap at the Royston Hotel. Great malty ale. Aromas of chocolate, caramel, and nuts. Taste is sweet, with long length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Dark brown, with a frothy head.

bottle claiming 6.3%. pours a clear brown with a fizzy, medium sized, tan head. sweet nose of caramel, brown sugar and even some root beer. a sweeter brown ale in the flavor with lots of brown sugar and molasses. a brown that focuses more on the sweetness and not so much nuttyness. that unique BR hop flavor lingers in the background medium body, creamy, with moderate carbonation. one of the best brown aleís iíve had.

Great brown ale! Pours a deep brown with a small head. Aroma is slightly hoppy and smokey with some coffee. Taste has oak, wood, hops, with coffee, molasses, brown sugar and nuts. I would prefer if this were a little sweeter. Mouthfeel is full, round and creamy. Leaves a slighly burnt roasty aftertaste. The oaky woody taste resembles Dominion's Oak Barrel Stout in a way. Highly recommended!

I was about to call this the best brown I have ever had. Then I remembered that I HAVE had the NazelNut Brown Nectar. Still.... this had a dark dark brown pour with a thin but very creamy and lasting head. A thick smooth body and delicious brown sugar flavor made this one of the best browns that I have had. Great stuff.

I just wrote a stellar review, but forgot to check all the attributes so it didn’t save it. Bummer! Pours a dark reddish brown colour with a full tan head. Aroma is sticky- molasses, IHOP on Sunday and Nestle Crunch. A big, bold brown bear ale that doesn’t hesitate to question authority but does not at any time attempt to out do itself. Mouthfeel is creamy, lightly carbonated and very soft. Taste is sweet of brown sugar, carmel apples, raisins and milk duds. (It’s been years since I’ve had a milk dud, but i still remember what they taste like) All I can say is, if this brew was dedicated to me, I would be a very proud man.
