22 oz bomber. Pours a cloudy orange copperish color with a medium sized white head. Aroma has that classic piney west coast IPA scent, full of fresh hops. Taste is much the same. Lots of hops and fresh pine needles present along with a hint of malt. Aftertaste leaves a slight butterscotch flavor. Excellent.

Poured into a tulip with nice big frothy head with good retention and lacing. Spruce and citrus aroma. Beautiful deep, golden color. Heavy bitter taste. Light and slick. Lively with long bitter finish.

Bottle pours light orange with a small head with great lacing. This beer has an intersting malt flavor not apparent in most IPA’s. Great hop presence here, balanced with malty sweetness.

Nice pine and citrus aroma with a golden amber color. Great hoppy flavor but not too bitter. Very well balanced. One of the best IPA’s I have ever had.

Decent amount of hops, got it from Maryland, Jine. Not heavily or painfully hoppy, but a fine beer nonetheless. Another solid brew from Cali.

1.14.05 Sometimes I wonder where my friends find this stuff, since I never come across anything like this in the store. Oh, wait, apparently this isn’t available in NJ? How sad since this was quite a nice IPA.

"MMMM good beer. Poured a light amber color with a small head. Strong smell of pine. Pine won the taste of this beer with some citrus fruits mixing in. "

(22 oz bottle: $2.99 at Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido, CA) This is a fairly flavorful beer, aggressively hopped in contrast to the malt, somewhat floral, quite grapefruity, fairly bitter right from the start, but especially in the finish. However, the fruitiness and the moderately sweet malt has some presence and is able to cut into the hoppiness to a degree. The moderately aromatic nose shows a nice balance between malt and hops, and is pleasant and enticing. Medium in body, average viscosity for an IPA, fairly crisp in the finish. Light golden color and slightly hazy. For a bottle-conditioned beer, there isn’t a whole lot of sediment in the bottle, but in the glass, medium to large sized chunky particles are suspended in the beer. Even a fairly careful pour results in the off-white head rising to well over an inch. Retention is excellent, even half an hour later, there is still at least a half an inch of rocky foam on the glass. Dense, thick patches of lace are left on the glass. Overall, I think this is a solid IPA, maybe not quite at the level of the top tier IPAs, but certainly knocking on the door. Can’t ever go wrong grabbing one of these.

Bottle. A fantastic IPA. Smells of hops, tastes of hops. A very sweet taste. Not overly bitter. Better balance than most IPAs.

Bomber bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber-orange with a tight, thick off-white head. The Columbus aromatic hops come through nicely, but a bit restrained, resulting in a fragrant pine needle and spice nose with just a touch of citrus. Mouthfeel was creamy and full with a subdued carbonation level. Initial flavor was a well balanced presentation of orange, grapefruit, sweet caramel and faint background of Juicy Fruit chewing gum. Late palate to finish is moderately bittersweet, but a bit short and syrupy. Overall a fairly solid IPA and worth a visit, but not all that outstanding.
