first off lumpy is wrong. orange tinted tan with a fat sticky cream head. candy hop aroma that has citrus notes reminiscent of orange chewing gum. malt flavor mixes great with the strong hop presence. great citrus caramel flavor. finish is superb, sweet lingers and a piney sugar daddy flavor remains. a surprisingly clean and fresh mouthfeel for something with so much sweetness.

Bottle. Tawny brown/orange body with a thick lasting foamy head. Nose is strong of grapefruit and cereal. Quick bitter bite up front. Decent use of hops-the aroma and bitter hops compliment each other nicely. Overall, I get the impression the brewers were more interested in maxing out the IBU’s than they were in perfecting the overall taste. It isn’t bad by any means, but it leaves a little to be desired.

Courtesy of wohlfs. Think this would score better if wasn’t preceded by the Pelican IPA. Orange in color with lots of sediment and a big white head. Nice lacing. Floral and citrus hop aroma. Flavor lacks in malt a little but overall very good.

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2005 Pours light amber with a very thick white head. Head lasts quite awhile and and leaves a thick long lasting lacing. Doesn’t smell all that hoppy, a rarity for among IPAs. It smells of grapefruit and pine with some hop to it. A slightly sweet taste for an IPA but has that good ole hoppy kick to it that any good IPA has. Feels smooth in the mouth and leaves only a slight aftertaste in the mouth.

22oz. Bomber: This one pours a hazy, slightly orangish color. There is a fairly strong white head that leaves some lacing down the glass. The aroma is a mix of grapefuit and pine hops. The taste is actually a touch sweet before the hops kick in. They are strong without being overpowering. A really decent beer!

Nice IPA, very refreshing, not too over the top. Well balanced with a nice sweet touch to it. Mild white head with a nice hoppy nose and taste to it. Very steady brew from Bear Republic.

Bear republic makes some great Hoppy IPA’s. Color is bright amber with a great fluffy off white head. Coats the glass nicely too. Aroma is fruity and citrusy with a good amount of pine. Flavor is very well balanced- as this beer has lots of hops upfront but also delivers lots of crystal malts to give a sweet malty backbone. Smooth mouthfeel and good finish. Not too harsh in the end despite all the hop bitterness.

Bottle. Amber colored with a white head. Good lacing. Fair hop aroma, slightly floral. Initial sweet malt flavors are balance fairly well by the citric hop flavors and bitterness. Consumed right after a Pelican IPA which I thought was a far better beer.

Bottle from wohlfs, golden orange, medium off-white head, medium lacing, aroma of hops but an astringent alcohol smell takes over, taste of citrus followed by hop bitterness. plain jane IPA
