3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
355 ml bottle courtesy of my secret santa joeneugs. Pours hazy golden with a rather small white head that leaves a small trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is slightly sweet, fruity and slightly herbal with crackers, peaches, pineapple, toffee, grapefruit rinds, apricots, alcohol, papaya, tamarind, gummi candy, mango, black currants and hints of gooseberries and passion fruit. Taste is tiny sweet, very bitter and slightly fruity with crackers, biscuits, oily pine, grapefruit juice, resin, lemon zest, lime leaves, lemon grass, freshly cut grass, yellow winegums, ripe gooseberries, black currants jam and orange peal.mMouthfeel is round, tiny watery, tiny astringent, slightly oily bitter and light to medium bodied. Finish is dry and bitter with crackers, grapefruit juice, yellow winegums, pine needles, resin, papaya, unripe pineapple and unripe gooseberries. Quite tasty...

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap in a pint glass at Sushi Deli 2 in San Diego with commonshawn, rosskyle, and wildcard. Aroma gives a super fresh vibe with bright citrus tones. Good lacing. Taste has the same refreshing qualities...light grapefruit and orange. Nice hop balance with sweetness. Feels like an easy to drink readily available go to option. Solid beer.

4.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
I don’t do a lot of rating here. My favorite beers number 1: Grapefruit Sculpin, number 2 Two-Hearted Ale, and number 3 Racer 5. After over 6 years of random-but-heavy-yet-insightful chugging of high quality beers - due to my employment in the alcohol industry - I have come to the conclusion that these three encompass everything I like about IPAs. Tonight’s encounter with Racer 5 confirmed again what a wonderfully balanced, floral and yet full-bodied beer it is. The aroma and taste characteristics are so evident, even after having a GS or two beforehand. If you like the more well-balanced and not heavy-handed IPA seek out Racer 5. (Bear Republic’s other, darker beers are also epic, just not my style).

12 oz pour from refrigerated bomber into shaker pint. Moderate white head that quickly dissipates. Very hazy and light golden. Nose is carmelly, a little malty, citrus. Medium bodied. Taste is fairly sweet-- lots fruity orange. Solid IPA, though the aftertaste is a bit off.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Had this so many times I forgot to rate. The first I remember distinctly was at dba in the East Village circa 2000 with, alex, alex, Tim Dave etc. Tasted like a razor blade of hops. 15 years later it’s a juicy well balanced ipa out of a bottle.

12 FL OZ ($12.31 6 pack) Pretty good IPA, passed on this one many times as I didn’t find the box very appealing. having had everything else I was left with trying this. glad I did as this was a fairly good IPA.
