dmschefke (371), Eastpointe, Michigan, USA May 31, 2009 Pours an orangish amber with medium white head, lots of lacing. Aroma of floral and slight citrus hops, pine, caramel, and strong malt. Flavor matches, but overdone. They just don’t have the combination right or something. Heavy body, slick mouthfeel. Drinkable, but nothing I would go back to. dkachur (2316), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA May 30, 2009 12 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a slightly hazed amber color with a medium head. Good head retention and lacing. Resin and citrus hops in the aroma with a toffeish and nutty malt backbone. Taste is bitter hops throughout with some citrus, peach and resin. Bitter and sweet... nicely balanced. Medium bodied, drjay44 (757), Salida, Colorado, USA May 29, 2009 22 oz. bottle. Pours a lovely long lasting thick head, with great lacing, over a very slightly cloudy, golden orange (SRM 15) body....nose redolent of pine, grapefruit, resin.....tastes initially rather sweet, then hop flavors come in with good citrus, pleasant bittering, minimal floral tones....mouth feel is medium, carbonation light. Another in the pantheon of "American" IPA’s, bitter, aromatic, palate cleansing, refreshing and good. tekhna (100), California, USA May 29, 2009 Mmm, delicious. Fresh. Bitter fruit, not cloying. Hoppy but not overwhelming. Very nice IPA. Nothing special in this halcyon period of IPAs, but delicious nonetheless. arondee (173), Tucson, Arizona, USA May 28, 2009 Pours a hazy orange, lots of little flecks in the glass, with a nice white head. Aroma is hops and grapefruit. Taste is initially bitter, then slightly sweet and thick, grapefruit rind, and lots of hops dominate. Really good, this is a thick full IPA with a good balance between the bitter and the sweetness. bblack99 (195), Kansas City, Missouri, USA May 28, 2009 Bottle pours a light clear yellow-copper, with a big bubbly soapy white head with lots of rentention. Light aroma of grass, pine, and citrus.
Flavor is a bit more subtle than some IPAs, with a nice balance of peppery bitterness and smooth malt. Nice finish, lots of carbonation keeps it light with a modest 7% ABV. jbye4334 (652), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA May 28, 2009 (on tap at Trinity in Colorado Springs). Pours a clear copper color. Medium white head which lasts. Hoppy citrus aroma. Hoppy taste with light bitterness. Avg duration. Good lacing. Moderate carbonation. uhclem (188), Loveland, Colorado, USA May 26, 2009 Hazy peach pour with a solid, long-lasting head and heavy lacing. Nose is citrus and slightly grassy. Taste is citrus and pine with a great hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is silky and finish is bitter, but not too bitter. Nicely done.
