alagnak (301), Littleton, Colorado, USA May 26, 2009 nice citrusy hop smell...taste is more of this - tropical almost with a decent, but not completely mouth-pounding bitterness. High drinkability - this will be in the regular rotation. darbish (81), Portland, Oregon, USA May 25, 2009 smells sweet, oranges, spicy, and a little boozy. color is a golden orange, fizzy, almost no head. fairly hoppy, strawberries, oranges, pretty fruity tasting. i can’t put my finger on the exact flavor, but it is very good (even after I left it out overnight and it got flat, lol). MeisterBrew (138), Cheyenne, Wyoming, USA May 25, 2009 Bottle. Pours a hazy copper color with a medium size off=white head. Very piney aroma with a hint of sweet malt. Flavor is nice and hoppy , but not overdone. All said, this is a nice solid IPA. ScottyP (314), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA May 24, 2009 Pour a clear amber with citrus/piney hops with white head, some malt. Taste of pine hops, some fruit and malts. Nice finish, hops don’t overwhelm, but nice for 7%. Enjoyed this one. hophead21112 (110), Louisville (LEWISville), Colorado, USA May 24, 2009 Hazy light copper pour with a white head. Good retention and decent lacing. Grapefruit citrus and floral aroma. A pinch of sweetness at the beginning and mild bitterness that sticks around for a bit. Very nice, especially since I paid about $4.75 for a bomber. Would like to try the Rye. texasbartender (160), Sugarland, Texas, USA May 23, 2009 The beer pours a hazy orange with a slightly off white head. The nose is sweet caramel hops. The taste is grassy with acidic hops and a sticky finish. madvike (301), Madison, Wisconsin, USA May 22, 2009 Bottle - First Bear Republic beer I’ve tried, and I think I’ll be looking for some others. The smell is just what I like in an IPA -- citrusy hops with floral and grassy notes. Yep, that pretty much describes this. The tate has a dry hop taste that I normally don’t like, but it’s balanced out with just enough citrus hops and malty goodness. It’s full bodied, but a bit oily. I’ll never ignore a Bear Republic with a cheesy Speed Racer-looking label again. alebrewer (121), Mentor, Ohio, USA May 20, 2009 Draught, Ballantine, WIlloughby, OH
Great hoppy nose. I caught this just as it went on tap. Wonderfully balanced, lots of malt and hops.Bitterness is definitely there but not too dry and not too lingering. I’ve not been disappointed by a Bear Republic beer ever.
