The smell is just what I like in an IPA -- citrusy hops with floral and grassy notes. Yep, that pretty much describes this. The tate has a dry hop taste that I normally don’t like, but it’s balanced out with just enough citrus hops and malty goodness. It’s full bodied, but a bit oily. I’ll never ignore a Bear Republic with a cheesy Speed Racer-looking label again. alebrewer (121), Mentor, Ohio, USA

Great hoppy nose. I caught this just as it went on tap. Wonderfully balanced, lots of malt and hops.Bitterness is definitely there but not too dry and not too lingering. I’ve not been disappointed by a Bear Republic beer ever. lumpsowers (235), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 19, 2009 Copper pour, medium head, lots of lace. Hoppy, piny aroma. Whoa, lots of piny hops dominates, with a fruity grapey sweetness coming in at the end, a little woody hops.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 14, 2009 650ml bottle from Bev4less. Pours a translucent copper color with a huge white head that had good retention and some lacing. The aroma is that of a citrus bomb, this thing has oranges, grapefruit, limes and just a hint of pine. The flavor pretty much follows the aroma, good biter hops that are citrusy set in a caramel and rock candy suspension. Very nice. The palate is full and malty smooth. The finish is long and biter, but just a little bit harsh. Overall: I was kinda surprised to see that I had not rated this before, an oversight, its one of my regular favs. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 13, 2009 12oz bottles supplied by Ryan at Funky Buddha. Pours a super clear amber with a fizzy white head. Big time citrus from the Cascade hops and a nice strong grapefruit note and even a slight bit of malt sweetness in the nose. Very nice. Flavor is big resiny, piney, citrus up front with a rather nice malt backbone giving this a fuller body than most IPA’s. Not hugely bitter but perfect for me. Finishes off with almost sweet orange rind and light bitterness that lingers with a hint of grapefruit. Very nice.
