skoisirius (570), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 30, 2009 Racer 5’s 1111th Rating: Simply put: one of the best IPA’s North America has to offer as far as flavor, hop profiling, and price. Dank hop candy right here. beerandIT (177), Richmond, Virginia, USA Mar 28, 2009 Pours a nice golden light brown with about an inch of head. I want to say though that when I had this beer a couple of years ago for the first time I distinctly remember being able to almost chew the hops. I have to say that I think the hop shortage has hit bear republic a bit. Unless my palate as just drowned out super strong hop flavors. Still great though. Nice strong hop smell on the nose. Nice citrus that I want/love/need/desire from my west coast ipas. Great price though, very very reasonable. webbcreative (111), , Oklahoma, USA Mar 28, 2009 Updated: Mar 30, 2009Pours a beautiful deep golden color, with great 3 finger head. smell is ridiculous, the aroma hit my nose before i could even finish pouring the beer. Smells of wonderful clean hops, and hops, and hops, and hops. Taste - Nice big hop flavor of the bat, which sweetness from the malt midway through, then finishing with a nice hop punch in the end, but the bitterness lingers a little but not uncomfortably long, its really nice. Just a bit of biscuit flavor in there also. Mouthfeel is really, really smooth.
Overall, this is an EXCELLENT IPA, would get this one again, and for $5 and some change a pretty good deal also. JHunter (242), British Columbia, Canada Mar 28, 2009 pours a yellow with a thin head. nice hoppy aroma . first taste a hoppy taste with a malty finish Maltajo (103), TARRYTOWN, New York, USA Mar 26, 2009 On Tap at the Ginger man NYC. Very full bodied, with a great pour. Gave a nice head that lasted. The flavor was outstanding, nice amount of citrus on the grapefruit side. Bitter. Nice balance Long lasting finish. To bad it eventually goes away. I really liked this beer.
Adam77 (407), Eastampton, New Jersey, USA Mar 26, 2009 Poured hazy yellow with a fluffy white head. Aroma of orange and lemon. Citrus blend of flavors. Sweet. linc33 (177), Albany, New York, USA Mar 25, 2009 Had it on tap at both the brewery and Rattle n Hum in NYC. Very definite contender for best PNW-style IPA that I’ve ever had. I don’t know how much more I can say. wingman333 (233), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Mar 24, 2009 Reddish-bronze color with a powdery head...delicious, almost a cooling effect on the tongue. Aroma of herbs, perhaps anise. Bitter and sweetness equally balanced. A great variation of a standard IPA. Hoppy like a double IPA but more herbal than fruity.
