Commercial Description:
This is a hoppy IPA. Did I say hops? Your brewer is a hop head! This is a full bodied beer using American grains. The goal was to create a base for showing off the unique floral qualities of two Pacific Northwest hops, Columbus and Cascade. Columbus is a new hybrid High Alpha Acid hop used mostly for bittering, but used heavily as an aromatic in this strong brew. Cascade is the balance that ties the malt and bittering hops together. It is a true specialty ale and is our brewer’s statement on this style. 2004 L.A. Commercial Brewing Competition, Silver Medal Winner; 2004 World Beer Cup, Silver Medal Winner; 2001 Real Ale Festival, San Diego, Gold Medal Winner; 2001 Real Ale Festival, Chicago, Gold Medal Winner; 1999 Great Amercian Beer Festival, Gold Medal Winner - og 1.070, ABV 7.0%, IBU 69. Had it on tap at both the brewery and Rattle n Hum in NYC. Very definite contender for best PNW-style IPA that I’ve ever had. I don’t know how much more I can say.

Reddish-bronze color with a powdery head...delicious, almost a cooling effect on the tongue. Aroma of herbs, perhaps anise. Bitter and sweetness equally balanced. A great variation of a standard IPA. Hoppy like a double IPA but more herbal than fruity.

On tap at the Blind Tiger NYC. hazy orange colour. Thin white head. Strong hoppy flavour. Hints of oranges and grapefruit. Bitter finish. Well balance IPA.

This pours a golden yellow color with a fluffy white head. Aroma is mainly citrus hops smell. Flavor was bitter, a bit grapefruit and pine, mellowed out by a nice malty backbone. Good IPA but not a hop bomb.

Draft. I must say, I have been waiting to try this one and it did not disappoint. It pours a nice golden color with an off white head. The nose is huge and full of pine and floral notes. Medium carbonation with a rich, almost sticky mouthfeel. The malt seems sandwiched in between all of the hops, but it works well. Some candy, definite resin and pine, and lastly some floral on the palate. Whew! My tastebuds just got a workout! The finish is reasonably clean with a lingering bitterness. Now this is an IPA!

Enjoyed via 22oz bomber. Pours a nice deep golden color. Nose is a complex and wondrous blend of hops. On the palate, it exhibits a medium level of body, hops up front, malt in the middle, and then more drying hops on the finish. Overall, dangerously drinkable and a steal at any price.

Rather intriguing deep banana haze with a suitable topping. Wondrous hoppy aroma with citrus, and grapefruit and pineapple in the mix. Great blend of similar hops in the flavor with a nice finishing bitterness. This is well apportioned, finely crafted iPA.

Poured from 22 oz brown bomber into pint glass: Aroma- Grapefruit citrus and pine followed by grassy and a bit of malt. Appearance - Golden amber and crystal clear. Beautiful slightly off-white head leaves spotty lacing on glass. Flavor - Gold malt, piney and citrusy hops. Yeasty. A bit of a bite on the finish. Somewhat metallic aftertaste. Palate - Light to medium. A bit slick at first but finishes remarkably dry and crisp. Overall - Definitely a full flavor brew. 7% ABV gives it some kick. I could drink a couple of these....at least!
