Commercial Description:
This is a hoppy IPA. Did I say hops? Your brewer is a hop head! This is a full bodied beer using American grains. The goal was to create a base for showing off the unique floral qualities of two Pacific Northwest hops, Columbus and Cascade. Columbus is a new hybrid High Alpha Acid hop used mostly for bittering, but used heavily as an aromatic in this strong brew. Cascade is the balance that ties the malt and bittering hops together. It is a true specialty ale and is our brewer’s statement on this style. 2004 L.A. Commercial Brewing Competition, Silver Medal Winner; 2004 World Beer Cup, Silver Medal Winner; 2001 Real Ale Festival, San Diego, Gold Medal Winner; 2001 Real Ale Festival, Chicago, Gold Medal Winner; 1999 Great Amercian Beer Festival, Gold Medal Winner - og 1.070, ABV 7.0%, IBU 69. Thanks kiefdog for the share. Pours a yellow-orange brown with a white head. Nose is sweet malt, caramel, citrus, and floral hops. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, and a very gentle, flavorful hops experience. Enjoyable, but slightly Simcoe hoppy at the finish. Very nice and great lacing on the glass. Excellent.

Golden orange with non-lasting thick white top. Smells of lemon, honey, almonds, and grains. Tastes of maple, bread, and light citrus, mid-of-the-road bite to lasting honey conclusion, refreshing and smooth. Little on the safe side. "Aggressive-style" is more like a double IPA.

APPEARANCE: Pours a cloudy (with visible particulates) orange/gold color with a medium white head that dissipates at a normal rate. There is some nice lacing. AROMA: Moderate to heavy citrusy hops. Light sweet malts in the background. FLAVOR: Hops throughout a little grapefruit citrus and grass. Light biscuit like malts throughout give it some balance. MOUTHFEEL: Medium bodied beer. Soft carbonation. DRINKABILITY: Full flavored IPA that has a ton of hops without being harsh on the taste buds. NOTES: BBCSD-0901-Larry

Pours an amberish gold with a thing white head and visibly sediment. Big hoppy aroma and bitter. Taste is hops up frunt, grapefruit. More bitter than sweet as an IPA goes. Very balanced and a tasty IPA.

On tap at Home Grown. Poured a light clear copper with a very minimal head that still left great lacing throughout. The aroma had a strong bitterness from the hops with floral over tones. Taste has a strong hop bitterness through to the finish. Along with citrus, bread and a slight malt sweetness to help balance things. Light bodied and smooth with gentle carbonation. A good hoppy IPA.

On tap at the Map Room in Chicago. Pours a beautiful deep orange with a creamy off-white head. Great lacing. Huge citrus and piney hops aroma with grapefruit, orange peel, pine resin. Taste is perfectly balanced and crisp with powerful grapefruit and floral hops being balanced by the malt where this beer is refreshing and clean rather than a bitterness overload. Sharp, citric finish. Awesome.

Pours a cloudy apple juice color with a copper hue. Has an off white, biege, head with lots of carbonation and yeast suspension. Lots of florals with some pine and grapefruit also has a hint of sweet malt smell. An excellent oily flavor of pink grapefruit and pine hops with a medium bodied background of caramel malt. The palate is smooth throughout with a soft carbonation and a covered alcohol warming. Been in my mix for a long time.
