4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
330ml bottle. Hazy light yellowy amber, a soft white head which diminishes to leave a foamy coating. Aroma- pine, grapefruit and tangerine hits you straight away, meadowy, clean floral notes, it almost smells juicy. Taste- big hop bitterness, smooth mouthfeel, orangey, lots and lots of fruits, grapefruit, gooseberry hints, hugely refreshing but with a long bitter finish. Excellent IPA.

22oz bottle pours clear pale gold with a finger of head. Nose is soft floral pine and citrus. Taste is crisp grassy resin, pine, citrus, onion. Finish is clean malt notes, grapefruit and bitter piney resin. Easy drinking, solid stuff.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber - Pours cloudy light yellow with a medium head. Real fizzy and has nice lacing. Very hoppy (grapefruit and pine) and spicy on the taste. Has a medium slick mouthfeel and medium dry finish. Both the Racer 5 and the Racer X remind me of the New Belgium Rampant IPA.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
I don’t get the hype behind this IPA. It’s a pretty standard IPA, and I think there are much better single IPA’s out there than this. It really lacks, I think, the floral/citrusy characteristics of a west coast style IPA. But, it has that acidic, aspirin like bitterness. The latter, IMO, should be minimized and the former accentuated.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
This was one of the best IPAs I had in my recent trip to CA. I wish that I could get some of it back in WI. Great tasting beer. It is in the top 5 for my IPAs.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Asahiya, it pours a crystal clear light copper gold with a filmy foamy head that leaves great lacing behind. The nose has an incredibly floral & herbal hop bouquet: minty, grapes, etc. Medium-light bodied with a fruity hop flavor that then goes piney bitter with some resin/dank notes and has a lingering citrus finish. No surprise this is their flagship beer, this is a great IPA for a good price.

660ml bottle (shared by FatPhil, thanks). Clear golden color. Small size, fizzy white head. Sweet, fruity, alcohol, hops in aroma. Faint mint, spruce, pine, candy in taste. Dodgy bitterness in aftertaste.

Bottle in the Canalhouse, Nottingham. A pale amber ale with a thin white head. Good pineapple and grapefruit flavours. There’s some smooth caramel too. Very nice.
