Commercial Description:
This is a hoppy IPA. Did I say hops? Your brewer is a hop head! This is a full bodied beer using American grains. The goal was to create a base for showing off the unique floral qualities of two Pacific Northwest hops, Columbus and Cascade. Columbus is a new hybrid High Alpha Acid hop used mostly for bittering, but used heavily as an aromatic in this strong brew. Cascade is the balance that ties the malt and bittering hops together. It is a true specialty ale and is our brewer’s statement on this style. 2004 L.A. Commercial Brewing Competition, Silver Medal Winner; 2004 World Beer Cup, Silver Medal Winner; 2001 Real Ale Festival, San Diego, Gold Medal Winner; 2001 Real Ale Festival, Chicago, Gold Medal Winner; 1999 Great Amercian Beer Festival, Gold Medal Winner - og 1.070, ABV 7.0%, IBU 69. Cloudy orange/amber pour. Aroma was citrus and pine. Head was medium with little lacing. Taste was hoppy but not overly so, citrus and pine. Godd solid IPa. Alcohol was well hidden. Good stuff.

Very aromatic - piny, resinous and grapefruity. Enough malt to hold it all together, but not too assertive. A splendid IPA that I won’t mind revisiting.

22-oz bottle Marcello’s Lafayette, LA - Aroma: floral, grapefruit (hop), caramel (malt); Flavor: sweet, salty (malt), slight floral and bitter (hop); Appearance: hazy yellow to orange color, off-white head leaving laces on the glass; Mouthfell: light to medium bodied, low to medium carbonation; Overall: a beer with some hop and malt flavor. Due to the low hop flavor and aroma (as mentioned byt others), the bottle may be an older bottle with hops faded. In addition, there was just a little bit of yeast \ sediment for a bottle conditioned real ale (some may like that though).

From a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours remarkably light, almost lager like, for an IPA. Small amount of sticky white head and only a little bit of lacing. Mouthfeel is thick and sweet. Taste is of piny hops with minor skunk taste and a little bit of flowers. Not too biting either but rather smooth and dark. A decent IPA but I expected more.

Hints of Melon and Peach on the nose, appearance is slightly hazy and orange. Very hoppy with the peach coming through too. Didn’t stick to the palate like some other IPAs. Very nice.

Aroma is dominated be a specific hop that I’ve definitely used before.....I wanna say cascade but I may be wrong. Whatever hop it is..it is one of my favorite smells. Has a medium white head that goes away fairly quickly. Golden color....slightly hazy. has a piny hop, bitter flavor. Citrus/fruity hints. Malt balances well with the hops, thicker than expected. A very good IPA.

Bottle->tulip: Pours a large, white head atop a sparkling, amber body. Light aroma of malt, average aroma of hops and a general odor of candy. The body is medium, texture is oily, lively carbonation, and an astringent finish. Moderately acidic and bitter. Kinda a little bit heavy for regular consumption, but a great diversion.
