6ROW (243), corpus christi, Texas, USA Jan 30, 2009 dull orange pour with a small one finger off white head. aroma of citrus hops and taste to match! great finish not to bitter! fidelis83 (707), Clinton, Iowa, USA Jan 29, 2009 Pours a slightly hazy orange witha 1 finger creamy eggshell head that has good retention. Aroma is caramel and toasty malts, floral hops and citrus hops that smell alot like a freshly peeled mandarin orange. Flavor is toffee, then caramel and toast Saltine cracker comes in soon after with a little straw note and big citrus hops, some of the orange notes come through but much less pronounced than the aroma. Finish is grainy and citrusy, fairly bitter but it seems lower than 69 IBU. Palate is medium to thin and creamy, feels heavier than it really is, not bad but I like a little more bite. BeerFanDan17 (610), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Jan 26, 2009 A very tasty IPA. Nice balance of hops and smooth overall spice. Enjoyed from the bottle at a Sushi joint in Old Town San Diego. mnovacanes (48), Munster, Indiana, USA Jan 25, 2009 Updated: Feb 19, 2009Appearance: Clear; good retention on an off-white frothy head; good color--golden reddish orange
Aroma: subtle malt in the background via white bread, slightly cookie-ish quality; hops are represented in a very floral, perfume, herb quality; possibly some light, white fruit providing a supporting role; however, also does have an apple cider-like quality which loses it points
Flavor: Pretty good balance; the malt definitely makes its presence known; less fault on the tongue compared to on the nose; basically a sound IPA flavor but nothing spectacular; second tasting brings too much apple cider
Palate: Probably the best part of the beer; perfect IPA texture; smooth and suave with nothing to astringent beerbill (1918), Laurel, New York, USA Jan 24, 2009 Growler filled at Bellport Beer and Cold Soda. Pours a slightly hazed golden orange with a thin-moderate linen white head that fades to a film at mid-glass which lingers to the end, leaving very nice lace all the way to the bottom of the glass. Pleasant aroma of grapefruit and pine. I was very happy that the flavor is actually fruitier and more flavorful than the aroma suggests with lots of grapefruit. The malt base is sufficient to support the hops. Bitter at the finish but not excessive and again, is more about the grapefruit fruit flavor. I’m glad I have a full growler, I’ll be enjoying this one throughout the day! Slipstream (734), USA Jan 21, 2009 On tap at Rattle n Hum. Dark gold pour. Good flavor of pine, orange, and malt. mspindler (301), Alta Loma, California, USA Jan 19, 2009 22 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange with a medium off white head. Big citrusy and floral hop aroma. Flavor is lots of hops, some sweet malts. Floral and citrusy, juicy and refreshing. Like eating a fresh orange. The hop profile is so pleasing that it seems to negate the fact that this is a pretty one-dimensional beer. Medium body and carbonation with a long hop finish. cprochak (388), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 19, 2009 Updated: Mar 1, 2009Bottle from Bottleworks. Aroma hits with the hops and a slight floral hint. Pours a cloudy golden with good head. The hops are strong but balanced and this has a clean finish.
