Commercial Description:
This is a hoppy IPA. Did I say hops? Your brewer is a hop head! This is a full bodied beer using American grains. The goal was to create a base for showing off the unique floral qualities of two Pacific Northwest hops, Columbus and Cascade. Columbus is a new hybrid High Alpha Acid hop used mostly for bittering, but used heavily as an aromatic in this strong brew. Cascade is the balance that ties the malt and bittering hops together. It is a true specialty ale and is our brewer’s statement on this style. 2004 L.A. Commercial Brewing Competition, Silver Medal Winner; 2004 World Beer Cup, Silver Medal Winner; 2001 Real Ale Festival, San Diego, Gold Medal Winner; 2001 Real Ale Festival, Chicago, Gold Medal Winner; 1999 Great Amercian Beer Festival, Gold Medal Winner - og 1.070, ABV 7.0%, IBU 69. Wow! Great IPA! Pours a copper color with a nice head. The nose is in your face, nice citrus, floral, fresh grass. Full flavor of tangerines, grapefruit, navel orange peel with a nice dry finish. Nice carbonation. pair with a spicy dish or a mustard driven sammich!

Bottle at Volo, Toronto. Pours a hazy golden orange with a sizable head. Aroma is full of grapefruit, peach, apricot and pine. The flavour is undeniably dominated by apricot with some citrus, grapefruit, pine. Nice, medium bodied mouthfeel. Slightly bitter finish.

Bottle. Poured a clear gold with a two finger white head. Aroma of flowers, citrus and malt. Flavor was oranges with an abrasive bitter finish. Didn’t enjoy the finish at all. Potentially good beer, but a slight oops in the finish. Medium body with good carbonation.

My first take on this beer was that there was a bit too much vanilla dough in here but now its grown on me along with the ample bitterness and sweet dry citrus finish.

Bomber, bought from Charles Street Liquors in Boston. Pours a light orange-amber with a smallish head. Aroma is intensely floral, with ripe citrus fruit and some malt to boot. Classic quality IPA bouquet. Flavor is equally impressive. I tasted Valencia orange and tangerine primarily, all wrapped together in a smooth and lightly carbonated palate. Towards the finish, the flavor evolves into a more bitter, equally delicious tart hoppy finish. There is also a creamy quality to this beer that I can only compare to biting into a juicy fresh nectarine/plum/strawberry. I would pick this up again in a second.

Bottle pours golden with ’floaters’ from bottle conditioning with a off white head. Aroma is a wonderful spicy pine. The floral notes alone makes me excited. Mouthfeel is medium heavy. Flavor is sweet caramel malt upfront. The finish is dominated by a spicy, citrus, tart, hoppy flavor. Overall, I think this is one of the best IPA’s out there. Really hoppy and very drinkable.

Color is a pale orange with a creamy head, some lacing. Aroma is citrus hops and some malt. The flavor has a lot of good tasting hops, a bit of malt trying to balance it. Very good IPA, albeit a bit thin.
