Commercial Description:
This is a hoppy IPA. Did I say hops? Your brewer is a hop head! This is a full bodied beer using American grains. The goal was to create a base for showing off the unique floral qualities of two Pacific Northwest hops, Columbus and Cascade. Columbus is a new hybrid High Alpha Acid hop used mostly for bittering, but used heavily as an aromatic in this strong brew. Cascade is the balance that ties the malt and bittering hops together. It is a true specialty ale and is our brewer’s statement on this style. 2004 L.A. Commercial Brewing Competition, Silver Medal Winner; 2004 World Beer Cup, Silver Medal Winner; 2001 Real Ale Festival, San Diego, Gold Medal Winner; 2001 Real Ale Festival, Chicago, Gold Medal Winner; 1999 Great Amercian Beer Festival, Gold Medal Winner - og 1.070, ABV 7.0%, IBU 69. Bottle, but tastes about the same on tap. Pours with a largish, rocky white head covering a clearish, golden amber body. Lots of hops, mainly orange blossom, and a bit floral aroma. Taste is mainly citrus hops. Thick mouthfeel, light bubbles.

A typical west coast american IPA. Front loaded with a WHACK of hops, wicked grapefruit, citrus, and piney aromas. A crap ton of hops in the flavour, a nice bitterness to finish. Nothing out of this world, but still very good.

From tap at Pizza Port, Solana Beach. Pours clear and golden yellow with a lacing white head. Smooth peachy ad grapefruity aroma, very inviting. Flavour is smooth caramel malt slight sweet and with a lovely fruity hops flavour on top yet also nicely balanced. Ends medium dry and fruity. Nice.

Six 12oz bottles purchased from Bauer Wines in Boston for $14. No freshness date found. Pours a nice cloudy gold. (Though a later bottle is more clear, at least by the end of it.) Strong hop aroma. Strong warming American hop flavour. A straight-forward west coast IPA - god bless em.

This was one hoppy IPA! Tap, great ruddy body with a thick frothy head. Aroma was somewhat sweet, though the hop extravaganza was still noticeable, followed through into the flavor. Very enjoyable, I ordered two!

Copper color with a good head and lacing. Aroma dominated by the hops. Citrus and pine. Flavor also dominated by the hops but, with malt flkavors that leave you wanting more. I have really grown to appreciate IPA’s in recent years and this one is excellent.

12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Golden copper with lasting puffy off-white head and lace. Extremely fresh hop and citrus aroma. Very mild toffee sweetness mile peach fruit and nice bracing bitterness with very dry finish. Medium body and carbo. Complex assertive and sessionable. Absolutely excellent.
