sneagrams3 (1704), St. Louis, Missouri, USA May 3, 2008 Tasted 4/25/08. 22oz bomber. Road soda on the way to DLD (don’t worry, I wasn’t driving). Filtered with an amber golden hue. Layer of off-white head. Good nose. Notes of honey and grassy bitter hops. On the fuller side of medium bodied with bitter astringency. Big effervescence. Good malty bready backbone. Nice hop palate. Grapefruit and piney. Touch soapy. Tasty brew! Holdwine (905), Beertimore, Maryland, USA May 2, 2008 A gift for the hopheads. Like strolling through a sprintime pine forest, or rubbing your hands in freash sap. Caramel gold pour. Lively hops at every turn. Very spicy. Muy bien. deepsouth (23), biloxi, Mississippi, USA May 2, 2008 this beer poured a golden color with a straw colored head that receded pretty quickly leaving scattered patches of thin head all around the top of the beer. WOW, this beer smells good. citrusy hops, grapefruit, lightly peppery fragrances dominate the nose. the citrusy hops EXPLODE in your mouth from jumpstreet, but leaves with just the right amount of sweetness to make you want to take another sip. this beer BEGS to be drank. fortunately, at 7% you can get a little reckless with them without paying high prices. not to mention, at under $5 a bomber, this things a steal. the mouthfeel is nice and suits this style beer and i could drink one after another until i passed out. another fine offering from bear republic, which has proven to me that they make all their beers very well.
SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA May 2, 2008 Updated: Apr 21, 200912oz. bottle. Pours a hazy burnt gold-orange color with a medium sticky head with plenty of lace. Floral, and sweet grapefruit aroma. The flavor has a lot of grapefruit, with a sweet, honey like maltiness; finishes with a little bitterness and alcohol. the hops are in check, with no overpowering bitterness, but plenty of flavor. Full bodied, with lively carbonation, a little sticky. Nice IPA, reminds me of stone with a little bore body. The only thing I could ask for is a little more malt complexity, and less residual sugar, but for a lighter style, its very well done.
Rerate: Draught at The Red. Gold with a white head. Citrus and tropical fruit aroma. Lots of citrus hop flavor and medium bitterness balanced by clean pale malt flavors. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. I’m not sure why I thought this was too sticky out of the bottle unless they are really different. Palates change, I guess, and this is a great IPA. BigBeer45 (676), Troy, Michigan, USA May 1, 2008 Bomber bottle, could not find a BB date, so, I do not know if this bottle fresh, pours a clear copper gold with a creamy white head that left some nice lacing on the glass, has a hint of amber in the brew and some floaties swimming around, poured mostly clear until I reached the bottom of the bottle, aroma of citrus, malt sweetness, not a big aroma or spectacular on the nose, initially flavor is sweet malt and some orange citrus fruit, then a kick of hops provide bitterness and a pretty dry palate at the finish, has a nice pretty full mouth feel, certainly is not thin in the mouth, this is a good IPA. Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 30, 2008 Updated: Jun 27, 2009Draft. Pours a clear apricot color with a huge fluffy head. Apricot citrus aroma and flavor. light malt profile with firm body. Lingering hop bitterness in the finish. Damn fine beer. carl4beer (394), Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA Apr 27, 2008 12 oz. pours golden and a little hazy with a nice off white head. aroma is citrus and some grass. mouthful is malty and earthy with with some citrus hop following and a bitter finnish. nice west coast IPA. HopBackDoc (393), Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 27, 2008 Hazy amber pour with foamy white head. Nose full of citrus hops! Flavor was an initial dose of citrus hops, bready malts, and a bitter hop finish. Fairly smooth given all the hop flavors in it. A solid IPA.
