Parrothead (185), Ephrata, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 12, 2009 22oz bottle. Whoa - I got a faceful of hops while pouring - and the glass was on the table and I was standing! A pretty soft amber color, nice white head that dissipated but kept a nice presence. I expected a bit more mouthfeel, but it was still good and smooth. Great job, Bear Republic!! BVery (446), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA Sep 11, 2009 TAP: semi-hazy light gold pour, white fluffy head, good lacing. Lemon citrus and hop on the nose, creamy mouthfeel with a big hop bite late. Good IPA. reverendj (34), Brunswick, Georgia, USA Sep 10, 2009 Very nice American IPA.......soft honey gold colour with pleasant malt and citrus aroma.....wonderful balance between the malts and the citrus hoppiness.....smooth feel with a nice hop bite on the finish.....how do these guys from the west coast do it time after time......I’ll buy again if we ever get it in Georgia celogan (190), Oroville, California, USA Sep 9, 2009 Nice Beer.
Poured cloudy yellow with slight head that evaporated quickly. Minimal lacing. Slight fruity aroma. Flavor was wonderful with fruity notes and some great hops. Good carbonation and mouth feel.
An outstanding IPA EithCubes (2140), Indiana, USA Sep 6, 2009 Drat, just missed being rating no 1234! Have passed on the bombers a number of times and decided to go for one of the newer 12 ozers. Sledgehammer pine bursting from the opened bottle neck, with lesser peach, mango, lychee, grapefruit, and, to my nose, raspberry. Great aromatics here - textbook example for Columbus. Clear orange body with a lacing, dense beige head. Taste is bittersweet and fruity, at first seeming to lean more toward the bitter side, but further ounces revealing balance. Strong crystal malt presence with earth and only light caramel (mostly evident in the long aftertaste). Fruitiness backed off. Oily, chewy Cascade goodness, touch of alcohol in the creamy medium-full body. Has some distinctive character but remains as style adherent as BJCP guidelines desire. Excellent. drowland (1360), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Sep 6, 2009 Bomber courtesy of Cavie. Huge citrus hops on the aroma and flavor combined with a nice balance of malt that is good but not overpowering. A really solid IPA that is now one of my favorites. fidel (884), Livermore, California, USA Sep 4, 2009 Poured hazy golden orange, piney, citrus, fruity, little malty, little caramel. Hopper (271), San Antonio, Texas, USA Sep 2, 2009 A golden-orange beer with a nice head. Aroma was piney, citrus, fruity, & oh so nice. The taste was pine, citrus(grapefruit), bitter. The flavors blend beautifully. Great lacing on the glass & what a great balance of malt & hops & everything I expect from an IPA. Being so good I need to try more IPA’s higher in the rankings than this because I do not know how it can get better than this.
