Commercial Description:
This is a hoppy IPA. Did I say hops? Your brewer is a hop head! This is a full bodied beer using American grains. The goal was to create a base for showing off the unique floral qualities of two Pacific Northwest hops, Columbus and Cascade. Columbus is a new hybrid High Alpha Acid hop used mostly for bittering, but used heavily as an aromatic in this strong brew. Cascade is the balance that ties the malt and bittering hops together. It is a true specialty ale and is our brewer’s statement on this style. 2004 L.A. Commercial Brewing Competition, Silver Medal Winner; 2004 World Beer Cup, Silver Medal Winner; 2001 Real Ale Festival, San Diego, Gold Medal Winner; 2001 Real Ale Festival, Chicago, Gold Medal Winner; 1999 Great Amercian Beer Festival, Gold Medal Winner - og 1.070, ABV 7.0%, IBU 69. California State Fair Bronze Medal, 1997 Beerfest Invitational. - og 1.070, ABV 7.0%, IBU 69.

This golden brown pour looks almost orange. Hops and caramel malt in the nose. It is a very balanced beer. Hops, bitterness, but still sweet in flavor. I prefer their Hop Rod Rye but not bad.

Sampled from 22oz bomber: poured a bright orange colour with a full floraly(?) aromatic head. Well carbonated, mouthfeel was full, creamy and pleasentely hopped. Initial taste is of sweet yet subtle carmel, faintly bready, lightly roasted malts, then comes the hop kick, noticeably piney and balanced. Deep earthy characteristics- overall a nice agressive ipa- just like the label suggests.

bottle form joekinty: pours a very clean and clear golden honey orange with a large fluffy white head. aroma is full of sweet hops with a good mix of pine and citrus and excelletn amount of malt to go alon g with the hops, some good fruity bread aroma also, very nice. flavour is a stivky pinie hops and a refreshing citrus hop blend that is very welcoming, the sweet malts play in the background to complete this gem, slight bread flavour in the finish a great ipa.
