Commercial Description:
This is a hoppy IPA. Did I say hops? Your brewer is a hop head! This is a full bodied beer using American grains. The goal was to create a base for showing off the unique floral qualities of two Pacific Northwest hops, Columbus and Cascade. Columbus is a new hybrid High Alpha Acid hop used mostly for bittering, but used heavily as an aromatic in this strong brew. Cascade is the balance that ties the malt and bittering hops together. It is a true specialty ale and is our brewer’s statement on this style. 2004 L.A. Pours a dark hazy gold with a thick rocky head. Big citrus pine and grassy aroma. Nice malty body balancing it all out, very nice chewy taste. Bitter citrus grassy pine flavor. Really big flavorful IPA with nice chewy Cascade and Simcoe style hops. Very good.

12oz. bottle. Pours a hazy burnt gold-orange color with a medium sticky head with plenty of lace. Floral, and sweet grapefruit aroma. The flavor has a lot of grapefruit, with a sweet, honey like maltiness; finishes with a little bitterness and alcohol. the hops are in check, with no overpowering bitterness, but plenty of flavor. Full bodied, with lively carbonation, a little sticky. Nice IPA, reminds me of stone with a little bore body. The only thing I could ask for is a little more malt complexity, and less residual sugar, but for a lighter style, its very well done. Rerate: Draught at The Red. Gold with a white head. Citrus and tropical fruit aroma. Lots of citrus hop flavor and medium bitterness balanced by clean pale malt flavors. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. I’m not sure why I thought this was too sticky out of the bottle unless they are really different. Palates change, I guess, and this is a great IPA.

Blistering citrus rind nose. Copper colored. Medium nectar. Big froth that takes it’s time to dissipate. Ample residual effers. This is IPA madness with hints on the grapefruit side. Huge lime rind, sickening. I spotted some corriander-esque flavors on the finish. This is one huge hop. They say only 69 IBUs, my ass, seems like 1000. Felt like I was swallowing tiny glass shards.

Cloudy amber with some floaties, full head. Big time hop aroma, fresh and green. Flavor of light malt accompanied by huge hops. Bitter finish. A touch dry. Very nice IPA.

Hazy orange-amber. Pillowy, off-white head. Big, hoppy aroma of grapefruit & pine. Resiny feel. Big, complex hop flavour of grapefruit, mint, & pine. Dry finish. Perhaps a little thin on the malts but good nonetheless.

Draft @ The Cannery, San Francisco, CA. Amber beer with a small cremy white head. It has a distinct and very hoppy nose, primarily some citrus and grape notes. Flavor has an early bitterness, good fruityness and a nice sweet malt flavor. Nice one.

Another terrific beer. The hop aroma was strong--the most perfumey smelling beer I’ve had. The flavor was pretty well balanced, if a little sweet. Thanks again to hopsrus for this sample.
