Commercial Description:
This is a hoppy IPA. Did I say hops? Your brewer is a hop head! This is a full bodied beer using American grains. The goal was to create a base for showing off the unique floral qualities of two Pacific Northwest hops, Columbus and Cascade. Columbus is a new hybrid High Alpha Acid hop used mostly for bittering, but used heavily as an aromatic in this strong brew. Cascade is the balance that ties the malt and bittering hops together. It is a true specialty ale and is our brewer’s statement on this style. 2004 L.A. 05-05-2005 = Racer 5? Why not. Has a pale amber color with a thick , frothy head leaving a nice lace. Awesome, strong smell of resinous acidic pine sap and perfumy hops. Medium full body with a full mouthfeel. Nice caramel malt taste up front with a huge floral and Douglas Fir hop bittersweetness which lasts the entire drink. Tastes like a double IPA but more drinkable at 7 % abv. One of the best IPA’s out there, only rivaled by Diamond Knots gem in my book.

Very good brew here. It had some yeast collections in it but this is an easy to drink beer. The drinkability is almost unmatched. I could easily consume ridiculous amounts of this. The foam was thick and deep. The smell on this sweet. This has to be one of the better beer’s i’ve tried since my adventure out in the beer world.

Pours a golden amber with a huge rocky head and chunky lacing. Aroma is mildy sweet malts and floral hops. Taste is floral and grapefruit with a lot of sweet malts. Not nearly as aggressive as I expected. Much more drinkable than many bigger IPAs. The sweet aftertaste leaves your mouth watering for another sip. Extremely sessionable, excellent IPA.

A great brew. Pours with a nice frothy white head that lingers. Aroma is full of hops and spices. Mouthfeel is a little sweet for my tastes. Flavor is excellent and packs a punch. A great beer.

A very tasty IPA. Nice balance of hops and smooth overall spice. Enjoyed from the bottle at a Sushi joint in Old Town San Diego.

12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Golden copper with lasting puffy off-white head and lace. Extremely fresh hop and citrus aroma. Very mild toffee sweetness mile peach fruit and nice bracing bitterness with very dry finish. Medium body and carbo. Complex assertive and sessionable. Absolutely excellent.

Less of an IPA and more of a pale ale, really. Sweet, slightly floral taste and aroma. Very little bitterness. Creamy, yet moderately fizzy texture. Sugary smooth. Moderately hoppy. Fans of bold IPA’s won’t like this one much. As a traditial IPA I would give it a lower rating. As merely "a beer" I would highly recommend it.

12 oz bottle. Pours mostly translucent orange. Nice white head, great lacing all around the glass. Aroma might be the best I’ve smelled yet. Hops and pine, big time. Smells like a freshly cut tree 2 weeks before Christmas. Tastes like pineapple and orange, with a little pine. Hops finish and a linger orange presence. Can’t believe I passed over this IPA for a full 2 years- my new favorite IPA!
