Bold hops and crisp citrus notes. Wonderfully balanced flavor. Strong floral aroma and beautiful golden color. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Top beer, pours a crystal clear golden with a nice head. Aroma of pine fills your nose, and the taste is mild citrus.

I don’t do a lot of rating here. My favorite beers number 1: Grapefruit Sculpin, number 2 Two-Hearted Ale, and number 3 Racer 5. After over 6 years of random-but-heavy-yet-insightful chugging of high quality beers - due to my employment in the alcohol industry - I have come to the conclusion that these three encompass everything I like about IPAs. Tonight’s encounter with Racer 5 confirmed again what a wonderfully balanced, floral and yet full-bodied beer it is. The aroma and taste characteristics are so evident, even after having a GS or two beforehand. If you like the more well-balanced and not heavy-handed IPA seek out Racer 5. (Bear Republic’s other, darker beers are also epic, just not my style).

This is one of the best beers in the U.S. made by one of the best(& consistant) breweries. The hop aroma jumps out before the 1st sip, a golden barely hazy color with a nice even head that lasts the better part of the pint(depends on quickly you consume). The hops engulf your mouth without going overboard.

I’d have to say it’s my favorite IPA. Floral hop aroma with just the right amount of bite. On tap at the source. That why the high score.

Awesome hoppyness, great grapefruit flavor coming through, restrained bitterness especially for the hop level. One of the best IPAs out there.

Huge hop aroma. Pours a light amber with incredible lacing. Taste is full of resiny hops and citrus. Bitter and astringent with tons of hop presence.

A perfect IPA...cascade hops aroma, golden pour with a bit of head retention. Crisp hoppy attack, but the smoothest, most pleasant body I’ve tried in an IPA, with a smooth, clean finish with a tad of residual hops. Very well balanced, just perfect on the palate. Amazing IPA, top of the line!

Tap @ HashigoZake - Came in a branded glass celebrating the 15th year anniversary of Bear Republic, aroma is lust. Taste is one of the most balanced IPAs I have ever had. I drunk this way to fast and had another.

A perfect California IPA. Huge grapefruit hoppiness. Racer 5 is quickly becoming the go to IPA in bars and restaurants around LA. That is a very good thing.
