Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Nov 8, 2009 Picked up a single 22-oz bomber at The Coffee Grounds in Eau Clarie, WI. Pours a clear golden amber colored brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma of multi-grain malt, citrus zest and a hint of lemon. Taste is medium bodied, plenty of bitterness with flavors of grapefruit, citrus zest, a hint of multi-grain malt and some tropical fruit. Finish continues a sharp bitterness with grapefruit and Cascade hop aftertaste is lingers on. Excellent west coast caliber IPA. bigbish (138), Colorado, USA Nov 7, 2009 This is a good IPA for sure. Not much aroma, which was kind of disappointing. Pours a nice dark golden color, very thin white head, dissipates quickly. The flavor is fantastic and really makes up for the lack of aroma. Lots of cascade flavors, with just a hint of malts to balance the bitterness.
I like it. ecwooten (1), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA does not count Nov 6, 2009 Piney and herbal aroma; intensely hoppy with floral and weedy overtones. Low malt aroma, low alcoholic vapor.
Light copper with golden highlights. Brilliantly clear with good apparent carbonation. Slight head retention, off-white.
Slightly sweet initial flavor with round malty sense that explodes into hops. Both the floral pine from the nose and side-of-tongue, mouthful of nickels bitterness. Late flavors all hop with a vaguely vaporous finish. Upper limit of alcohol for style. Hint of cherry as it warms. Very late finish has more grapefruit/citrus notes.
fistfull (23), USA Nov 2, 2009 I liked this IPA - but it ain’t no Stone Ruination; my benchmark for the next generation of expertly crafted IPA’s. Still, nice golden color, decent hoppy aroma and flavor - nice finish! Definitely drinkable and re-buyable! mjs (1446), Helsinki, Finland Oct 29, 2009 (Draught) Poured golden and clear with medium sized and white head. Aroma was hoppy and fruity. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were hops, fruitiness, grass, bitterness, malts and citricness. Hops and bitterness in aftertaste. matthewjk (47), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Oct 25, 2009 This is my first encounter with Bear Republic and I can say they have a good product. Like advertised, this is a very hoppy brew that any IPA lover will appreciate. douglas88 (1559), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Oct 24, 2009 22 ounce bottle in the Bayou. It’s cool these guys are in state now. Pours a clear golden color with a thick white head. The aroma is sweet citrus hops, light malt. A smooth hoppy taste, light citrus, nothing harsh, caramel malts. Really quite nice. Refreshing and easy. twindog (69), Hampstead, Maryland, USA Oct 23, 2009 Pours golden, opeaque with a froty white head. This is one of the best IPA’s that i had. Full of balance and complex flavors. This is a beer when you drink one, leaves you wanting another. Citurs flavors like grapefruit and lemons, finishing with tangerine and lime. Refrashing and creamy on the palate just a dynamite beer.
