COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Racer X™ is an uncommon Double India Pale Ale which puts a California twist on English brewing traditions by adding an assertive hop aroma and bitterness that compliments the firm malt backbone. Like its little brother Racer 5, Racer X™ is balance in a bottle.

Growler. Pours hazy and dark orange with a fluffy 2-finger yellow/beige head. Nice retention, and leaves some blebby and wispy lacing. Aromas of sweet and spicy pine and citrus, with prominent grapefruit and lemon. The flavor is sweet citrus and sugary grapefruit rind at first, moving to juicy citrus and tropical fruit. The finish is bitter citrus with some dusty, almost Bretty notes. Rich, nearly creamy, and pretty easy drinking for the ABV. Really nice stuff. [985]

Glowing orange copper with bubbly off white head. Fresh pine, citrus, and toasted malts with traces of grassy and floral hops. Yeasty doughy malts mingle with fresh citric and piney hops Firm malt backing for a big hop punch. Medium mouthfeel for a solid DIPA with no alcohol taste. Bold character and great drinkability make this a solid DIPA.

[4131-20111119] Tap. Orange citrus peel resin hops aroma has a hint of pine. Clear, amber orange body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head. Super bitter orange pine resin hops flavour initially follows up quickly with a thick creamy buttery evergreen malt finish. Medium-full body. Big and bold, tasty but scary too. (7/3/7/4/16) 3.7

Pours clear dark amber with no head. Smell is tons of tropical fruit, nice rich caramel and very light hint of pine. The taste is a earthy spicy hop, little peach character, not as fruity as the smell. Slightly grainy, nice light toffee, with a fairly balanced bitterness for a iipa. There’s this slight herbal hop character that’s slightly astringent, but not necessarily off-putting. Alcohol is well hidden, finish is light caramel and hop astringency. Mouth feel is light-medium with nice carbonation.

Smell is a yeasty bready mix of malt and hops. Fruitiness fuses it into an invitingly delicious hop bomb. Piney hops are prominent with a caramel sweetness flowing underneath. Taste is a a collision of the big caramel malt backbone and the huge hops. Well done!

Bottle from a Napa shop. There is a lot of talk and was a lot of anticipation for this one. I loved the malt backbone...similar to Dreadnaught, but not as sweet. The hops weren’t as balanced, however. The aroma had orange and grapefruit in the nose and some floral notes. The flavor was more like a hoppy, malty ESB. Very good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

At the pub on the release day!! Pours a nice golden yellow. Aroma is all citrus and some floral in there. Taste follows with a touch alcohol in the very back end. Huge citrus and tropical notes. Very balanced. Damn tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very much like Ruination. Hefty hop. Smooth buttery feel. The hops are sweet and smooth.
