On tap - David Copperfields NYC. This beer was almost identical for me to Arrogant Bastard. A very tart grapefruit aroma and taste, and an extremely hoppy taste. Starting to enjoy this type of beer, shame it was my last day in USA!

Was pleased to find this on tap at Cato's. This double IPA picked up where Racer 5 left off. The beer is maltier with more of a toasty and nutty flavor than their standard IPA, while its hop character seems harsher and less refined. Good, but I prefer Racer 5.

Definetly a decent IPA, but it's not particularly original like notalush points out. However, it's pretty decently balanced for being so hoppy, and it has a nice full mouthfeel. Citrus and grapefruit aroma, somewhat sweet.

I think I have officially had one too many imperial IPAs, because they now cease to excite or wow me - "yup, that's an imperial IPA," I say when I taste it, "sigh" - hoppy, moderately sweet and quite buttery, just like pretty much every other IIPA I've ever had - not as balanced as some of the greats, like T Floyds or 90 Minute, but quite thick and tasty none-the-less - I won't lower its rating just because I'm bored with the style, but man, am I the only person who feels this way?

I don't know why people like this one. So unbalanced its not funny. Really bitter, it kind of burned my tounge. Looks nice, smells kind of citrous like and sweet, but way bitter.

This IIPA pours with a deep amber/red body topped by a medium thick head with a good amount of lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet and hoppy with nice piney notes, a slight grapefruit note, a touch of mango and a good bitterness. The flavor is slightly sweet yet mostly bitter, piney and hoppy with a touch of fruit (grapefruit and mango). Medium to full bodied, smooth and dry.

Draft at brewpub. Medium orange, decent head. Orange oriented aroma. The hops in the flavor just SMACK you. Earthy, spicey flavors dominate, with a nicely balanced malt sweetness. Wow! Very unique, with an almost homebrew-like character.

UPDATED: SEP 9, 2004 A decent double ipa that isn't horrible nor does it stand out. Hoppy in the right ways, with great bitterness.

Aroma is all about American hops - fruity and citrusy. Nice amber color, great head retention and lacing. Whoo! Big kick of hop bitterness. Solid malt backbone to support it, though. Flavor is a potent blend of light caramel malts and spicy-citrusy hops. Body is medium-full, very smooth. Great hoppy, bitter, strong IPA!

UPDATED: MAR 10, 2004 The aroma of hops hits you from halfway accross the room. Take the Racer 5 and double the hops (which is evidently what they did). The sweet character still comes through underneath the spicy hops. Long lingering aftertaste.
