Had at the brewpub in Healdsburg. Nice clear reddish brown color. Very small head with little lacing. The aroma are mainly hops, pine, citrus dominate. Also detected some grassey notes. Flavor is hops all the way! Great piney, fresh bitterness all the way through the taste and swallow. Very nice balancing sweetness after the swallow. Long finish. Another great beer from Bear Republic.

Amber with a very slight haze. Smooth and very creamy. Wonderful hop flavors and aromas. Sharp, assertive, piney and citric. Very enjoyable to drink.

GABF 2003: Clear amber color with no head. big pine and grassy aromas with some flowers. I couldn't stop sniffing this one. Oily, syrupy mouthfeel (in a good way) Sweetness beats out the hops in the end. Long aftertaste where the hops come back.

Pours a caramel brown with a white lacy head. Sweet floral hoppy aroma. Body is fairly complex and decently balanced. Light alcoholic burn is present in the finish. A drinkable and good double IPA.

Golden brown color with moderate head. Hoppy aroma with some chocolate though I inhaled some and it burned my nose so there must have been some pepper in there too. Malts begin to attack along with all of the massive hops with a slight undertone of cocktail, fruit.

Cask at the RAF 2003: Piney hop aroma, little bit of cedar as well. . . Airy - Light and fluffy like a cloud. Amazing balance on the palate - large hops scream out in the aroma, but are calm and pleasant like a gorgeous spring day when tasted.

This one gets a perfect score for aroma because the aroma was that of the most delectable marijuana. I mean this one smelled expensive! Anyway, very hoppy but very malty. "A great session ale", not too intense. Worked for me.

Cask at RAF '03. Nice ruby red with little head. Nose is hoppy--Cascade-y grapefruit thing. Flavor was surprisingly well balanced, with sweet smokey and chocolatey malts balancing out a strong citric hop profile.

Had this right after the Racer 5 on cask at the RAF. Hoppy, fruity aroma. Slight caramel malt but really not all that much more flavorful than the 5...the difference is a more powerful and well balanced beer, hopped extremely aggressively and more enjoyably.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2005 ReRate-Falling rock tap house-pours a dark orange hue wit ha great off-white head. big piney aroma with notes of grapefruit, orange and apricots. good lacing. fresh pinesap flavors with big pine finish. more pine in flavors than aroma sugests. good malt backbone to match the onslaught of hops. a bit light on the body but the flavors make up for it. A good IIPA Cask-RAF-2/28/03-Jokes is definately right on target for his detection of thin palate. I thought the same for this brew. This happend to be the last brew i had for the night(I smuggled my sample out as I was walking to my buddies car). A good brew to end the night with.
