COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Racer X® is an uncommon Double India Pale Ale which puts a California twist on English brewing traditions by adding an assertive hop aroma and bitterness that compliments the firm malt backbone. Like its little brother Racer 5, Racer X® is balance in a bottle.

Quality Beer...Great flavor begining to end...Tons of Hops (not Stone tons, but tons), fruit flavors are very sweet, like some else wrote "candy-esque" Full mouth feel. would like to leave this aside for a year and try it again to see what flavors arise. Solid to Great beer

Finally I found this one, on tap at the horse brass pub in portland. Pours a dark amber with a medium off-white head, very big citrus hop nose, hints of dry candy, like sweet tarts. Big hop bitter finish to balance out the sweet dry malts. Light grapefruit taste in the aftertaste, very crisp.

Tasted at the 2004 Pizza Port Strong Ale Fest. Orange gold color. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is very floral. A medium bodied imperial IPA. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are grapefruity, floral and piney. A lot of hop flavor, yet not very bitter. Crisp and clean imperial IPA. Very hoppy without being over the top. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is bitter

ONE of the best beers I’ve ever had. Tap at SD Strong Ale fest. Hop nose like crazy. Flavor was equally impressive. I had a lot of beer so I can’t get too into detail, but I was very impressed.

On tap at Maproom. Freakin amazing hops nose that tickled my nose with zesti orange peel and lemons, limes and grapefruits, some grassiness there as well, when it warms. Huge body that first tasted a bit biscuity before showing off a huge array of soft, sweet fruits. Caramel and some spices peek out in the middle before the amazing rush of hops at the end. Dried the roof of my mouth like a grapefruit. Tingly pine needles when it was warm finished it off, the last sip was amazing and then the keg was empty!

Map Room Chicago-On tap-Very nice Imperial IPA. Hard to get specific with so much going on, but hops in every way imaginable. They need to bottle this beer. In my top 5 for Imperial IPAs.

UPDATED: APR 16, 2008 GABF2004... Poured a golden color with a small and sticky off white head and light lacing on the glass. Piney and citrusy hop aroma. Taste was lightly bitter, lots of citrus fruits including tangerine and grapefruit.

UPDATED: NOV 20, 2004 On Tap- Healdsburg. Pours a slight orange with a fading white head. Tons of malt sweetness and a little thin on hops for the style (in my humble opion). BUt still pretty good.

Another fine draft from Obriens in San Diego. This was a huge hoppy beer with a distinct earthy and pine filled aroma. The appearance was dark orange with a moderate white head. Some oranges and grapefruit swimming around. The aftertaste has a sour effect. Good on ya!
