COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Racer X® is an uncommon Double India Pale Ale which puts a California twist on English brewing traditions by adding an assertive hop aroma and bitterness that compliments the firm malt backbone. Like its little brother Racer 5, Racer X® is balance in a bottle.

Sweeter than I like in a DIPA, a little bit like an orange slice dipped in some caramel. Not hard to drink but not super crazy good.

Bottle from Bottle Barn, vintage 2013. Clear dark golden with a large head. Aroma and taste of hops, resin, grapefruit, pineapple and some light notes of malt. Nice bitter and hoppy finish. A great beer.

Pours unclear orange amber. Medium reducing creamy soapy white head with good lace. Aromas is dense hoppy, spicy, ripe fruity, citrus, grapefruit, pine - complex - plenty of caramel. Very aromatic. Medium plus body. Very hoppy. Spicy. Firm bitterness but not harsh. Oily. Sorta Fruity. Did I say hoppy? Alcohol is there but stays out of the way. Good but mot my fav.

Nicely balanced. Not much carbonation or lacing. Good bitter hoppiness, but no specific citrus notes. Some nice malty ale flavor. Some caramel and now some slight grapefruit after a few more swigs. Delightful. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. Pours maroon with white head that lingers. Sweet hop aroma over mild carbonation. Decent complexity in a smooth ipa. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This is an exceedingly good beer that is almost too balanced that it lacks "character". But then I take another sip to remind me how good (and balanced) this beer is.

terribly good beer. Nively floral, lovely bitter that isn’t all of it, great caramels, nice carbonation and looks great and has a decent head, Enjoyed it from the aroma to the finish,. However it is a heavy drinking beer and you might be struggling to have more than the one. But it was a good one :-)

Vintage 2013 so reads the bottle. Could use more carbonation. But... Syrupy, hoppy, citrus in the backbone, no head, great golden color and immediate head rush! Hop bombs dance across my tongue with a fervor. Each burp allows for thought. A great beer no doubt, but the store I bought it at had the temp too high for too long. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
