Racer X® is an uncommon Double India Pale Ale which puts a California twist on English brewing traditions by adding an assertive hop aroma and bitterness that compliments the firm malt backbone. Like its little brother Racer 5, Racer X® is balance in a bottle.

Great beer. One of my favorite DIPA’s. Usually only found for a short time on tape at the brewery or local bars. This is the first year racer x has been bottled. 8.3% abv... clean, fresh hop taste. Bitter on the front palate and almost a sweet lingering mouthfeel. Amazing beer, just wish i could find more.

Tasted from bottle. Plus a beautiful orange amber with thick rocky white head. Aroma is orange peel, grapefruit, floral and caramel. Taste is well balanced with a nice moderate bitterness balanced with the malt backbone. Flavors of pine, floral, citrus fruit, caramel, earthy and some herbal notes. Very nice imperial IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

glennmastrange (2680) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - MAR 29, 2016
Bottle. Moderate roasted and caramel for the malt, heavy pine and orange peel for the hops, light soap for the yeast, with date, brown sugar and honey in the background. Head is average size, frothy, off-white with slippery lacing and good legs, and is mostly diminishing. Color is murky amber. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Palate is medium to full, oily with a lively carbonation and a lightly astringent and alcoholic finish. A nice smooth DIPA with perfect balance.

Pours a slightly hazy copper from a bottle, white head, lots of lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, some pine. Flavor is more like lemon soap, kind of pine-sol-y. Some malt sweetness. Well-balanced, but not liking the soapiness. Good beer though.
