3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On draught at Callahan’s in San Diego. This brew is a clear and lustrous bronze color with a medium beige head that diminishes slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of piney, resinous hops and grapefruit along with notes of sweet malt. Medium-bodied with an assertively hopped character that is balanced well by sweet grainy malt. Touches of caramel are present, and the alcohol slips in every once in awhile too. The finish is bitter with a lingering piney hops flavor. Good all around.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
From flight@Ginger Man, NYC, 18/12/11. Ugly soupy murk rimmed with white. Strawberry jam aroma with lurking grapfruit and leafiness, some Jelly Baby. Well-honeyed bitterness, apricot, grapefruit finish with a husky tail. Slight heat and alcohol bitterness. A bit medicinal. Ordinary.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft. Dark amber with very little head. Grapefruit aroma and flavor with some smooth malt backing. Some tannins and grassiness present that may just be this batch, but it takes something away and means it’s nice, but could be better. One of my lower rated IIPA’s

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Courtesy of tpd975. Pours hazy copper with gold edges and thin off white head. The aroma emits pine, earthiness, spicy hops and grapefruit. The aroma is smooth all hoppy goodness. The taste is a bit hoppy to start with grapefruit citrusy notes mixing with a bit of lemon and nearly rich sweet malts creating a very nice sensation of yum. The flavor stays like this and pretty even heading toward the finish where a dash of roastiness and growing grapefruit and spice hoppiness take it to closure.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Light haze veils the beautiful orange hue while a white ring covers it all. Aroma is very oily and sprucey, straightforward greenish and orangey west coast hops. A bit sweaty in its evolution, sun lotion like as far as oiliness goes. I must say I didn’t appreciate it as much when it had reached room temperature, but it had a pleasant hop complexity and an adequate earthy malt backbone to compensate the could have been excessive hops. Medium bodied, a bit lip-sticking, bitter, lightly carbonated. Pretty good yet standard take on the style I guess.
