COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Racer X™ is an uncommon Double India Pale Ale which puts a California twist on English brewing traditions by adding an assertive hop aroma and bitterness that compliments the firm malt backbone. Like its little brother Racer 5, Racer X™ is balance in a bottle.

Tasted at the 2004 Pizza Port Strong Ale Fest. Orange gold color. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is very floral. A medium bodied imperial IPA. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are grapefruity, floral and piney. A lot of hop flavor, yet not very bitter. Crisp and clean imperial IPA. Very hoppy without being over the top. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is bitter

Bottle. Amber orange body topped by a large, off white head. Aroma has orange essence, pine, herbal notes, and malt. The sweet and bitter are strong but balanced and restrained. Flavor is sweet grapefruit and orange with some peach floating around, resin and a little herbal spice, caramel and toffee are prominent as well. A good dose of lingering bitterness with underlying sweetness in the finish. Fairly full body. Very enjoyable while not needing to be a 9%+ monster.

Great beer. One of my favorite DIPA’s. Usually only found for a short time on tape at the brewery or local bars. This is the first year racer x has been bottled. 8.3% abv... clean, fresh hop taste. Bitter on the front palate and almost a sweet lingering mouthfeel. Amazing beer, just wish i could find more.

On tap at the Old Toad. Clear orangish gold with a fair creamy off-beige head. Very hoppy aroma of grapefruit, orange citrus, toffee, some pine, and malty sweetness. Lovely complex aroma. Flavor is super malty with toffee and caramel, but also very hoppy with bitter, citrus and floral hops. Very good stuff.

Bottle from robertjm. Copper color, off-white head. Big floral, herbal, and pine hop aroma with plenty of caramel too. This is just a flat out solid Double IPA. There’s plenty of malt in the body but in true west coast fashion, this is loaded with hops; pine, floral, herbal, some lemon and orange notes. Bitter and dry in the finish countering the sweet malt nicely. This is very much like a slightly amped up version of Racer 5, which isn’t a bad thing. I like how easy this is to drink while not skimping on what makes a classic west coast Double IPA so good. Perhaps not quite as good as some of the best from the west, but not very far from them either.

M - pine, resin, grassy, tropical fruits hops up front, followed by very strong caramel malts and brown sugar. Lingering dry grassy hops. O - well balanced. Strong hops blends to strong malts. Abrupt transition. 6\7-

cloudy caramel color, light hoppy scent goes away quickly, light creamy texture, got something of a cake taste? at first ...could use more hops for my tounge. Like it but can find something comparable for less than the $8/bomber I paid at Bevmo...

On tap at the bottle room. Pours a hazel orange, some red in there with a thin white head. Aroma lots of pine, apricot, grass and some citrus. Taste is strong pine, grapefruit, and pineapple with a bit of caramel. Light mouthfeel, sticky and medium bitterness. Was able to detect some alcohol but still pretty easy to drink. Overall this is an awsome dipa I thought this was better then apex and cafe 15. If ur really into dipas with lots of pine you cant go wrong with this one.

Really drinkable resinous and lightly citrusy DIPA. The hops are aggressive but not overly so. Very drinkable for the high ABV and a solid caramel cracker malt background that balances the hops well.
