Red Rocket Ale is a bastardized Scottish style red ale that traces it’s origins to our homebrew roots. This full bodied and hoppy brew finishes on the palate with sweet, caramel malt flavors. 2009 California State Fair - SILVER 1999 Great American Beer Festival® Other Strong Ales or Lagers - SILVER 1998 Great American Beer Festival® Other Strong Ales - SILVER

Poured with a monstrous rocky head, over a highly sedimented dark red beer. The aroma is a striking cross of caramel and light hop, but the flavor is full-on caramel malt ... but then comes that little hop tingle in the aftertaste. This is big-bodied and big-flavored, not for the meek.

22 oz bottle. Pours with a huge head that lasts. Tarnished penny in color with crystal clarity. Aroma, like the flavor, has an excellent balance between sweet maltiness and lingering hop bitterness, being big on both accounts. Overall, an excellent brew (better than Arrogant Bastard) that I’ll look forward to once NC pops that annoying 6% cap.

Nice dense head of fine bubbles. Creamy on top. Light carbonation. Roasty aroma with roasted grains, hint of soy sauce and dry dog food. Malts become more prevalent as the brew warms. Color is a very dark reddish brown. Dry and roasty flavors. Dry roasted peanuts, a little bitterness and a touch of sweet malts. Slightly chalky. Dry and bitter finish with a lingering roasted flavor. Hides its alcohol well. A decent brew but not all that special.

Nice deep amber color with a frothy tan head. Noticed a ton of floatiies in the first, second, and third pour. They coverd the bottom of my glass. Piney hop aroma, almost like a barley wine. Taste was well balanced with hops and malt with a somewhat short and sweet finished. A little light in body, but overall: Very well done, I was pleasently surprised by this one.

Dark and slightly hazy ruby color, with a thick off-white head. Unusual aroma of caramel, cherries, hops, and vanilla. Medium body, malty, metallic and bitter, again unique. Feels like a cross between an amber ale, an IPA, and a dubbel. Another great beer from this underrated brewery.

Bottle - deep ruby body with a smallish beige head. The head was quickly gone. Deeply malty aroma - very barleywine-ish. Is that a word? Also quite fruity. I get cherries. Pretty fizzy mouthfeel. Grassy flavored hops come through as the brew warms. Very nice malty sweetness. Good!

22oz Bottle poured a dark red brown with a huge, thick, creamy head and lacing that hangs in sheets! Big hopy aroma with a flavor to match. Great easy drinking ale that reminds me more of a good IPA!

22oz - Sweet malt-hop combo on the nose. Dark brownish red color with a small head that disappeared quickly leaving decent lacing. Flavor is sweet and smooth. I can’t decide which hits first or is stonger, the hop or the malt. I like that fact and it makes for a real smotth drinkin brew.

Rusty brown pour with a thick creamy lightly tanned head. Citrus, florals, and hints of pine jump out in the nose, but sweet toasty caramel malt tones lie just beneath the surface. Smooth grapefruit and piney bitterness flavors up front, slightly grainy throughout, with a light sweet caramel malt bringing it home. Medium to full bodied, soft carbonation, dry, bitter finish. Very nice as with most of BR’s brews, but Scottish Style Red Ale?? Hmmmm....let’s just call it an IPA and move on please....

22oz bomber. Dark brown color with a small tan head. Sweet malt and hop aroma. Flavor is lightly sweet malt on first sip, before turning dry and bitter with the hops coming through.
