Red Rocket Ale is a bastardized Scottish style red ale that traces it’s origins to our homebrew roots. This full bodied and hoppy brew finishes on the palate with sweet, caramel malt flavors. 2009 California State Fair - SILVER 1999 Great American Beer Festival® Other Strong Ales or Lagers - SILVER 1998 Great American Beer Festival® Other Strong Ales - SILVER

Beautiful beautiful poor. Poured with the most amazing head Ive ever seen. A huge layer of rocky head that took about 15 minutes to settle down. After that, chunks (yes, chunks) of dense head remained on the top and side of the glass. You could feel the chunky thick head go down your throat. Oh man, so good. A nice cloudy auburn with lots of sediment flecks. Smells of lots of piney hops mixed in with some scotch and caramel. Taste is initially very dry, with a lot of hops hitting your tongue. Flavor then becomes more balanced as a nice semi-sweet caramel malt hits your tongue and slides all around, leaving your mouth happy. Finishes with a nice butterscotch and spice note. Medium bodied. This is a great beer. Only complaint here is that there is too much of a hop presence on the nose and in the flavor. Could use some more balance. Great scores for appearance and overall uniqueness. I suspect this would age perfectly. Bear Republic makes some great beers and they just became one of my favorite brewers with this one. Good job.

Had on tap at the brewpub in Healdsburg. Yummy! Dark orance appearance, light, off-white head, decent lacing. Find some caramel in the very sweet fragrant aroma, along with some piney spruce. Flavor has a strong citrus presence with a caramelly undertone. Very thick mouthfeel. Overall, excellent, could have drank it all day.

Deep amber-brown in color and mostly translucent with a foamy, off-white head, leaving nice lacing tracts as we go. Aroma is signified by sweet nectar, butterscotch, English toffee, peat and wood soaked brandy. Rich caramel, pine and birch kick start the flavor. This is one bitter Scottish ale, like no other. Tingly woodsy elements. Sweet ribbons of caramel - to toffee - to butterscotch and then back again are doing battle with the IBUs. Fairly fuller bodied, amped up, and finishing with cedar and pine bitters. Definitely a mutt in the world of Scottish ales, but I’ll take him should it ever come to that again.

Bomber poured a dark amber with red highlights, huge creamy head that left great lacing. Nose was creamy malts, caramel, and some pine hops. This is way hoppy right up front, left when some roasted caramel and cream came over the tongue. Finished bitter smooth hops and quite dry and pleasant. If I knew this was so hoppy I would have opened this when it was hotter. Really nice brew, Thanks to secret Santa. This is more like a darker IIPA. Very sweet also.

This brown ale poured with a large off-white head, eliciting a mild hoppy aroma. There was a very rich porter-like flavor.

Big, creamy, tan head. Deep red-brown hue. Big caramel and pine aromas. Also some brown sugar, butterscotch, prunes, whole grain bread, and grapefruit aromas. Moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter flavor. Moderately sweet, moderately acidic, heavily bitter finish. Medium-full body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation.

Pours deep amber with a tan head. Malty, fruity hop aroma. Taste is sweet malt and hops. Tastes almost like a year old bottle of dreadnaught. Full body, smooth, big earthy hops.

Pour is deep reddish brown with a nice dense tan head...smell is hops, pine, soap, lemons...taste is hoppy up front, agressive itchy on the tongue, followed by some sweet caramel and molasses with the hops coming back to provide a bitter finish...

Pour is a cherry-wood red with a tan/white head. Aroma was a mix of hops, pine, and herbs. The taste is what this beer is all about. Big hoppy bite with an underbelly of malts and some honey/nutty flavors. I can easily say this brewer is becoming one of my favorites.
