Red Rocket Ale is a bastardized Scottish style red ale that traces it’s origins to our homebrew roots. This full bodied and hoppy brew finishes on the palate with sweet, caramel malt flavors. 2009 California State Fair - SILVER 1999 Great American Beer Festival® Other Strong Ales or Lagers - SILVER 1998 Great American Beer Festival® Other Strong Ales - SILVER

22 oz bottle. Red and clear with a tan head. Piney hop aroma. Big caramel malty flavor. Very hoppy but not over hoppy. Hops linger throughout beer. Smooth palate. Nicely drinkable. Great.

22 oz bomber. Pours red and clear with a tan head. Piney hop aroma. Chinook? Flavor has a big carmel malt component and a big aggressive hop in the background that lingers. Now, this is not over hopped and the malt shines through, so I am suspecting Chinook again. Rather smooth palate and nicely drinkable, almost reminds me of Arrogant Bastard.

Deep reddish-brown in color with a nice, thick creamy beige head that leaves sticky sheets of lace in my glass. Strong hoppy aromas of grapefruit and pine, citrus, bready and fruity flavors kind of like pineapple cake. Full bodied with a thick and creamy mouthfeel, another good one from this brewery.

Citrusy-orange pine hops in the nose with strong supporting caramel maltiness. Notes of red pepper - slightly pleasantly vegetal. Deep brown with suspended yeast and tan head that diminishes to just cover and ring. Very short flavour with long-lasting bitterness - orange/pine hops and roasted malts. Hops balance the sweet malt. Smooth mouthfeel. Medium body. Assertive bitterness and dry finish makes it feel lighter. Bottle (enjoyed with beerbuzzmontreal, MartinT and Rastacouere).

Clear auburn with a fluffy, off-white head. Thick hoppy aroma of blood oranges, grapefruit, pine trees, grains and a little caramel. The body is a little thick but also creamy and carries the bitterness well. Rustic breads all over the flavor profile with orange marmalade, pine resin and chewy caramel. At times I get this odd stinky cheese thing which isn’t good, but not as bad as one would think. Not my favorite offering from Bear Republic--very bitter without much balance and only decent flavors.

deep amber color, thick creamy beige head. aroma somewhat dominated by malts, lots of caramel/toffee (i admit i have a hard time distinguishing between the two) and moderate hoppiness. it recognizes itself as a scottish style ale, and there are plenty of elements to back it up...slight peatiness, lots of malts...but the hops set it apart from your typical scottish ale, e.g. the hoppy finish.

Pours turbid burgundy with huge white head and lace. Aroma of malt, toffee, cabernet. Tastes very malty, hoppy, with a somewhat tart finish. I tastes hints of cabernet, cognac, port. Finishes hoppy, malty, slightly tart and dry. The finish reminded me a little of a scottish ale/red ale/IPA combination. Unbelievably complex.

Noteworthy red fruit plunged in pleasing caramel...All is rinsed with a sensational dose of grassy, piney and grapefruity hops...Apricots are carried by the hoppy ending for a well-integrated, barley-winish red ale...

Very dark brown with an honest light brown foamy head. It smells exactly what it pretends to be, a good scotch ale deep malt profile with a bit of alcohol and hop hints. While they definitely don’y seem agressive in the aroma, they become much more expressive once you venture toward a sip and attack with pin grapefruit flavors. Unlike many others though, they’re really just a complement here and are well integrated with the toffee and caramel malt. It’s not particularly complex, but drinks easily and didn’t appear shy after 10 barley wines or so. Rather assertive fullness with medium fitting carbonation. Extremely well executed, which has become a trademark for Bear Republic in my book.

Tap@Bear republic brewpub. Pretty intense, heavily hopped. Pine, grapey, grapefruity, and quite bitter in the finish, pretty tasty stuff.
