3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Ernesto987 (2378) - Connecticut, USA - AUG 2, 2011solid amber. Has a strong hop aroma that is balanced by a heavy malt bill. Both are stronger than your average amber but are balanced with each other. Bitterness is mostly in the finish as the malts are heavy and dominant at first. Solid amber but not amazing.

Bottle. Lovely! Pours a ruby red body, little to no head, sweet syrupy aroma, quite tangy taste, very very sweet middle with a very very light hop finish. As a Scottish themed beer it is quite interesting; I love American IPAs so it really takes on that theme whilst giving a wee look at the Scottish style. Lovely little beer!

355ml bottle. Color is deep mahogany with a thick beige head. Aroma has citrusy notes and dark bread is dominating. Flavor has sweet fruits, dark bread, caramel and nutty notes. Bitter hoppy finish with caramel and citrusy notes. Quite tasty, medium bodied. Maybe not that fresh, but still enjoyable as it is.

Mixed six from Total Wine. Dark brown pour with a touch of red, off white head. Sweet caramel with a bit of citrus. Uh, yeah, hits with some bittersweet and finishes with carbonation and leather. Just a wonderful beer.

Clear red beer with an off-white head and a slight fizz to it. You get a bit of hop and malt in the aroma but it’s surprisingly ;light on that front. The taste is much stronger though. A big initial hit of hopand then what follows is an ever so slightly fruity malt flavour. The aftertaste is interesting, starting with the malt and then fading and leaving the hop to linger.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 OKplus (379) - Oklahoma, USA - MAY 14, 2013
A - Hazy rusty red brown with an off white head.
S - Thick toffee/caramel malt, sugary strawberries, citrus hops,
T - Citrus off the top before a slab of rich toffee/caramel malt flows in with descent amount of leafy hop bitterness behind it. Some fruit and marshmallow sweetness mixed in as well.
M - Medium to full body, smooth, low carbonation.
Great malt base, very flavorful and satisfying.

Great hop character with a solid malt backbone. My only criticism is that the dark malts are a little strong on finish.

Hoppy and kinda bitter aroma. Dark amber color with white head. It’s floral hop at first taste then takes a leathery direction afterwards. Pretty bomb. Bear Republic rarely lets me down. For some reason this reminds me of something Port Brewing would put out. I don’t know if they have similar styles or ingredient choices but that.s what my tongue is telling me.
