Bottle at the Blind Monk. Clear amber pour with an off white head. Sweet malty aromas. Might be a bit old as the grapefruit hop notes are fading and exposing the malty backbone. Decent body and good carbonation.

Bottle from Asahiya. Big fat malty nose, filled in with typical West Coast greenery. Sweet ’n’ sourish initial / mid flattens out and goes to a fairly smooth balance / nice light tanginess that soon clears off and leaves mild hop traces. Very tasty. Aroma promises a lot more than comes out on the palate -- but that’s probably a good thing.

Aroma: Pine resin followed by a bit of candy-caramel like notes. Appearance: Deep reddish brown with a light beige head. Flavor: Malty, fruity with medium sweetness and a gentle hop bitterness. Palate: Medium to full bodied with moderate carbonation and malty finish. Overall: Great flavors and balance. Would go great with a garlicy, roast leg of lamb.

Pretty nice - strong, sweet, bitter aftertaste with some pineapple and lingering caramel. Very sweet on the nose, dark in the glass and slightly syrupy in the mouth. Gets slightly sickly almost boring by the end. Not mega hoppy.

355ml bottle. Clear darkest copper colour with small, creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Cautious clean hoppy aroma, minimally herbal, floral, hints of bubblegum, peppermint, underlying malty notes with a nuttily touch. Taste is initially clean bitter hoppy without specific flavour, maybe a touch peppermint, later slightly caramel malty, a touch of toffee, burnt coffee. Narrow, constricted, clean, sober, monotonous.

On tap at Ridgewood (Raleigh) Pours amber with a bit of creamy head. Bitter hoppy taste, sharp aftertaste. Doesn't work as one of those "nice summer beers" that some of the other hoppy beers I've tried due to the bitterness, but I'd get it again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
