3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Rodman’s. Pours a dark red/crimson with a fluffy white head that has quite a bit of retention and lacing. Tons of yeast and other bits floating around. Unfiltered, indeed. Smells sweet, some resinous pine and some prune/plum/cherry action. Watery front, not the kind of malt backbone that I look for in a red ale. Lots of hoppy pine notes though. Lots of carbonation I’d have it again, but I think I prefer Green Flash’s Hop Head Red.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Clear dark amber pour, thin tan head. Malt and hops in a tug of war for the nose. Bittersweet. Middle is big roasted malt footprint, sweet caramel notes, toffee lurking at the edges. Finish leans sweet, but there is still some piney kick there.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle to glass. Deep murky red with white head. Pine, earthy malt, bread, caramel, and some sort of light fruit I can’t quite put my finger on. Persimmons, maybe? Oily mouthfeel, bitter finish, and pretty heavy. One to enjoy slowly.

22FL OZ ($5.99) very good flavors here. worth it and then some. so far bear republic has been very good. The red is not over powered but you can distinguish the levels of flavor. slow drinking is the best for this.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours from bottle a hazy red brown with a very thick off-white pillowy head that sticks to the glass in clumps and doesn’t fade until the bottom of the glass, and even then, retains a bit of its head. Aroma is a rich malty caramely sweetness and the taste follows the same. Some hoppy bitterness, but the malts win the day here. This is almost a barleywine. Full mouthfeel and bittersweet finish.
