Sampled on draft at Smokiní Joeís this beer poured a golden amber color with a large foamy yellow-white head that lingered and produced great lacing. The aroma was very strong bitter and sweet pink grapefruit juice. The flavor was very strong sweet pink grapefruit juice. Long sweet finish. Thick and full bodied. Excellent.

Growler served in a tulip. Hazy, bright orange with a short white head. Very pleasant, aromatic belgian candy sweetness and spicy rye malt nose with a matching explosion of flavor. Medium body, very creamy mouthfeel, and a dry, bitter finish. Everything is acute. Iím a big fan of this GABF Gold medal winner.

Beautiful honey golden color. Scant head but great draft lace. Smells of a Belgian IPA and apple. The taste is a citrus West Coast hop and a gritty rye base. Fizzy and milky consistency. A really nicely balanced gritty flavored IPA.

Man, thereís no brewery out there that knows how to handle rye quite like Bear Republic. Iím not sure what it is they do, or why, but their rye beers always rock. Ryevalry is no exception. Belgian yeastiness couples with huge amounts of citric hops, creating an instant fruity tartness that only gets better as the rye malt kicks in. The beer keeps this streak of citrus throughout, even as the Belgian leanings drop off towards the dry, piney finish. Pretty much the best fucking spring seasonal out there right now, folks.

Tasted 4/7/11. Draft from The Royale. Pours hazy with a golden hue. Bone white finger width of head. Aromas of grapefruit, orange rinds and other citrus fruits. A rather overt nose! Full bodied and very bitter. A ton of grapefruit and citrus notes. Mild Belgian candy yeast character. Rounded body with a pleasant complexity. A bitter, tart and tangy palate with a mildly cloying finish. Flavors of bitter grapefruit and orange zest with a touch of honey and subtle spices. Zesty with a decent alcohol note. Whether the burn is from the alcohol, hops or lively effervescence, itís still good! Nice fresh, green hoppy flavors. While the rye aspect could have been more in the forefront, it still adds a dimension to the existing bitter palate. Fresh and very nice!

Draft served in a Moinette chalice at The Royale. Pours a clear gold color with a finger-thick white head. Aroma of fresh herbal hops, rye, pale and sweet malts, coriander, honey, and pineapple. Flavor of citrusy and floral hops, sweet malts, frosted flakes, pine resin, and peppery spices. Medium-bodied, with a spicy, resinous mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Lingering bitterness. Cool DIPA but maybe not the level of rye I was expecting.
