Pours a lightly hazy golden with a smaller creamy white head that laced. Aroma of pine, grapefruit and orange. Flavor of pine, grapefruit, orange zest and lightly sweet bready malts.

Draft, Clear gold, frothy white head. Aroma of tons of citrus, honey, clove, herb, pine, dark fruit. Taste is also pretty crazy, the Belgian yeast comes through more along with citrus. Medium body, soft carbonation. Finish has yeasty notes and resinous bitterness. Interesting.

On draft at V.E. nice yellow with a thin white head. Very little pine and floral notes. Very good strong grapefruitsome malt sweetness hops coats and hangs in the mouth. This is a well balanced ipa and I would love to have this again.

Tap at Meridian pint. Yellow color, large white head with good retention. Aroma of citrus, pineapple, with nice floral notes. Taste has moderate bitterness, very palatable, with rye coming in toward the end. Very nice stuff, even better than the barrel aged version.

On tap. Slightly hazy golden body with a large white head that stays. Aroma is citrus, tropical fruits and slightly spicy. Pine and some belgian esters. Very dry aroma. Flavors are dry and estery with an extremely bitter note. Pine is the main hop flavor. A bit of pinesol as well. Not very easy to drink. Medium bubbles. I prefer the wood aged version by quite a bit!

From a draft pour at the Bear Republic Brewpub in Healdsburg, CA this came in the glass a rich gold with big fat white head and lots of lacing. The nose is floral and citrus hops, with lots of ripe fruit aromas on top of the rye malts. Medium body and a very clean mouthfeel. Flavor is complex with lots of fruit and rye, and spices that must come from the yeast. This somewhat unusual combintion really works for me. Very drinkable. I liked this very much.

Good spice kick to this orange colored brew. After that though the flavor dissipates. Hops are medium to me and the alcohol doesn’t come through much either.

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2011 On tap at Rubicon Brewing in Sacramento for beer week. Aroma is spicy. Appearance is cloudy like a hefewiesen. Flavour is spicy like a trippel. Also cross of IPA, and hefewiesen. Also distinct rye flavour. Overall a really enjoyable beer with lots of depth in flavors.

On tap at Rubicon Sacramento. Pours cloudy golden with a rich white head and a rye bread aroma. There is a bitter rye flavor that sticks to the palate, and a little banana ester.

Golden in color, clear with a thin white head. Strong floral hops aroma with a light rye malt backing. The flavor was Hops filled with a good amount of rye malt. This snaps in your mouth with hops goodness. Tasty tasty brew…
