Released from Foeder Number Two, this spontaneously fermented red ale has a tart apricot aroma, toasty malt and wheat flavors balanced by tart acidity, and a pleasantly malty finish.

Draft. Rich amber beer with low head. Tart and light sour aroma. Sour and light barrel flavor with light acetic notes and light dark fruit. Medium bodied. Sour and light acetic notes linger with light oak.

Rattle n hum, NYC, tap: the bar seems to think this is the aged version, but i am not getting much barrel in this. That sai, this is a fine flemmish red. Pours red with off white head. Aroma is of cherries, vinegar, and malt. Taste is thoroughly sour with a lightly sweet finish. Quite nice.

$13 10 oz draught at Luluís on 3/28/15
Copper-auburn with some cola tints. Medium-high clarity with a smattering of small off-white head that recedes to a ring.
Lovely mix of acetic acid and tart fruits in the nose. Almost smells like there are berries in here (there arent). Strawberries, balsamic vinegar, light marmalade and a touch of cellar mustiness. No hops or alcohol, no flaws apparent. Medium to medium-high strength of aroma.
Tart and acetic, though I like that itís not a mouthful of vinegar. To match the relatively light acetic notes, the beer is quite dry, with a glassy, almost hard texture from the malts that is broken up somewhat by the carbonation but still reveals only a medium body at best (which is fine). Berries, citrus rind, cherryskin, and very light biscuity malt notes all are in balance. Nothing flashy here and I like the (relatively) lower alcohol content. This is not an oud bruin (not that itís trying to be) but more of a lighthearted American sour red ale. But for the insane price tag, would drink again very readily. A bit of iron/metal noted on the finish.

On draft at Torst. Pours a rose gold color with a big white head. The aroma is juicy funky. On the palate itís overwhelmingly sour but there are interesting fruit notes. Itís only at th very end on the lips that there is a hint of the bourbon sweetness. Really weird beer but pretty cool.

On tap at Apex, pours a cloudy amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out light balsamic, tart red fruits, and a light earthiness. Flavour is very very tart, with sour red fruits, balsamic vinegar and light funk - low acidity but high vinegar. Works really well for what it is. Finishes almost brutally sour.

Pours classic sour red-brown look with minimal head, more like wine or cider. Hints of sour pucker dried fruit aroma. Super satisfying flavor. Intense California style sour, blows other American sours out of the water with just the right amount of malty berry flavors to balance out the tart punch. This is wild west coast yeast at its finest.
