One of the world’s classic sour beer styles, Tartare™ is Bear Republic’s interpretation of Berliner Weisse, the tart, low-alcohol beer style dubbed as "The Champagne of the North." Tartare won a Bronze medal at the 2011 Festival of Wood and Barrel Aged Beer in the Wild Beer/Acidic category. Winner at 2013 Good Food Awards, Adventurous, Barreled, Big, Bawdy, & Belgian Beer Category

Pours a light yellow translucent color. Nice nose of lemon, lacto, wheat, very clean. The palate is of crisp acidity, citrus, lemonade, wheat, and nice carbonation. Finishes dry and crisp. Well done.

This is my type of sour. Has an over the top sourness that tastes amazing. If you like really sour things this is a good one.

Type: 16-oz. draft Glass: Goblet From: Bear Republic Brewing Company in Healdsburg, Calif. Price: $6.50 Purchased: July 17, 2013 Consumed: July 17, 2013 Misc.: Came with an option of a raspberry or green apple side flavoring Poured a yellow-golden straw hazy color with gray head that dissipated rather quickly. Minimal wet lacing on the sides. Poor retention on the top on the way down. Smelled sour fruit, curdled milk, tart, kiwi, grapes and green apple. Tasted tart, Sweet Tarts, green apple, kiwi, sour and green grapes. Light body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Long, tart finish. Drinkable and refreshing. A very good Berliner Weissbier that I would definitely try again.

On tap at Bear Republic. Hazy golden color with no head at all. Very tart and acidic. It's pretty much the only thing you can taste. It was described as the lemonade of beers and I have to say that is a fairly accurate description. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Blue Dog in Chalfont, PA. My notes indicated that this was painfully tart and hard to work through. My palate has changed a bit since, but I'll stick with my review at the time.

On tap at Pizza Inferno in SF. Aroma and flavor of Meyer lemons and not much else. This one starts well, but the flavor fades quickly and goes straight to sour/acetic and no flavor. It’s like riding a train and they never finished laying the tracks... Good vision, poor execution. Ok beer.

Vinegar and acetone. Just a horrible palate. I can tell there’s some good things going on in it, but it’s hard to see past that vinegar taste on the finish.
