Draft at Pi and the Monks Kettle, San Francisco. My sweet Beer God. I thank you for such meetings as this. Straw yellow blonde pour with a small yet thick white foamy head. Nose of light barnyard, straw, and funky citrus. What a mouthfeel! Tarty, funky, sticky, salty, oaky, sour citrusy...all smashed into a fairly carbonated flavor explosion on the palate. It sticks. Halfway through the glass you can practically feel it in your pores. Pardon me, but just fucking incredible. I could drink this forever.

On tap at blind tiger. This is a perfect BW--only one I've tried that I like more than 1809. Tart, refreshing, eminently drinkable. Wish this was more common.

On tap @ Pony w Erica ... Waiting for Sandy. Pours murky hazy white-yellow with no head. Aroma is funky sour fruit. Some berry maybe. Really tart sour fruit, like a gusher, on the palate and it’s slightly acidic but doesn’t get the saliva glands going into shock, as I would have expected. Very tasty. Notes of berry, citrus, peach, mainly. Love it.

Aroma is tart but with notes of caramel, citrus, banana, and tart peaches. Pours light hazy blonde. Taste is very intense. Great tart apricot, nectarine, and sour dough. The intensity does not subside and this is a true pleasure to drink. Must find this again. They should bottle it.

On tap @ Falling Rock Taphouse, tulip. Really impressive Berliner Weisse. Fires on all cylinders. Best intensity I’ve experienced for this beer style. Huge lacto notes all over this beauty. Didn’t know Bear Republic dabbled in the sours, but I was very pleased.

Draft at Capone’s Black Friday event. My first and best beer of the day. Poured a rather ugly hazy pale straw body with a minimal white head. Aroma was super tart and bordered on being almost a sour. Notes of old lemons, and some wet fermented wheat. Great body on this one with a medium mouthfeel, lighter carbonation and an acidic burn on the end. Flavor is very similar to the aroma with lots of tartness, old lemons and a touch of vinegar. I could of drank this all day.

Fobab #7
Pours a hazy yellow with a small head.
The aroma is white grape and has sort of a locker room kind of funkiness. Pungent, lemony, and very intriguing./inviting.
The flavor is puckeringly sour, my notes say "Hot Damn" so yeah, I was pretty impressed by the initial taste. The beer is lemony and funky in an intriguing kid of way. Plenty of dry white wine character. Just all around easy to drink and awesome.

The pour is a pale straw hue with a short lived white head. An excellent tartness to the aroma. Very sharp lactic acidity to go along with plenty of wheat. A little bit of lemon peel and maybe some popcorn. The flavor is similarly enjoyable. Great lemon peel and lemon juice tartness with an undertone of sweetness from the wheat. Light bodied with medium carbonation. Very well done beer.

Draft at small bar, san diego. No head, just a green-ish yellow gatoraid haze, just as it should be. Pungent tartness detected in the nose, quite lactic I think. Fierce carbonation first greats the tongue but is much tamer for future sips. Great, aggressive, and clean tartness they got here, I’m actually significantly impressed...really great wild yeast bi-products in the flavor with nothing in the way of off-flavors...somewhat toned down on the graininess, probably because it’s so aggressive with its tartness, but regardless, this is one of the best american-made berliners that I can remember having. Kudos.
