Tasted in July 2011 from a 650mL bomber bottle at Lush West Town. Pours hazy bright orange with an average white head that slowly recedes to thin spotty lace. The nose is pale, earthy malt, with a dough yeast character, citrus peel, and bitter grassy hops. The flavor is hoppier than the nose with some earthy dough yeast, a nicely pronounced caramel malt, and the citrus peel and bitter grassy hops. This is a bit maltier than most American Pale Ales. The body is medium and somewhat sticky, with average carbonation and a long earthy citrus peel finish.

Bottle. Deep copper in color with a small white head. A small collar hangs around after the head fades. Malt fills the aroma. Caramel and biscuity, with just a hint of light fruit character. Taste is light, with subtle hints bread, apricot, and a slight bitterness in the finish. Light body, very drinkable, but not quite on the same level as some of my favorite apas. I wish the aroma had some more fruit and citrus present and not just the caramel and biscuity malt presence.

Bottle (in NZ, at Galbraiths Alehouse). A very well balanced, Pale Ale, especially for an American Pale Ale. The hops are quite earthy and savoury, not what I was expecting at all. An APA you could have a good long session on.

After having this brewery other beers, I found this brew as a disappointed. I know I was expecting a rather hoppier beer, especially after the smell of hops in the nose. This APA was rather on the mild side. It was however, an enjoyable beer. A mild hop flavor with hints of citrus, maybe even some caramel malts. Smooth drinking beer, as advertised, it would go well with any meal. It just lacks the bite I enjoy from an APA.

Bottle 22fl.oz. @ home.

Clear medium amber orange yellow colour with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, citrus, peachy, orange - citrus. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, peachy. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20110717]

Decent pale but like a few other brews from Bear Republic I found this ale to be rather boring and overpriced. It lacked the notes of hoppiness that I expected in a good Pale.

Clear copper color with a soapy white head. Aroma of hops, citrus, and pine. Mild hop flavor with citrus, caramel and some pine. Good aroma. Decent flavor but lacks the necessary bite.

Bomber: Aroma has got a nice hop note to it, slightly grassy, but more citrus after the hops subside you can detect a little bit of caramel malt in the scent. Apearance is clear golden with a thick white head that lingers. Taste has got the nice citrus hops up from melting down into a nice citrus aftertaste. Lingering bitterness in the aftertaste and hop textures. Overall, Good. Cheers!
