3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 maneliquor (1187) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JAN 8, 2012
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours black with a small, bubbly tan head. Nice looking. Light cocoa powder, cream and roasted malts on the nose. There is that condensed milk note in this which sometimes pops up in milk stouts. Heavy cocoa powder and roasted coffee beans with a touch of spice. Not too bad. Easy drinking with a lengthy bitter finish. A little sharp carbonation. Solid
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 mkel07 (1806) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - AUG 28, 2011
330ml bottle. Looks good in the glass with a thick jet black colour and a crest of tan foam. Aromas of chocolate, toffee and roasted malts. The flavour is strong with roasted malt and bitter dark chocolate caressing the mouth. Full bodied and silky on the palate.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Maris (543) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - AUG 10, 2011
From a 330ml bottle on 10/8/2011 (Micro Brew Club special). Pours close to black with a smallish to medium head. Had a nice aroma of chocolate, chico baby, coffee and roasty malt. The flavours are similar - lots of chocolate and coffee, with some smoky notes and a pronounced roasted, burnt bitterness at the back. This is a very good stout with lots of character.
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Stew41 (1457) - Woodend, AUSTRALIA - MAR 9, 2011
The other beers from the house are a bit underwhelming but this is quite good. Nose shows a lot of milk chocolate and castor sugar. Flavours are more firm, bitter and a little astringent. Some tanginess to finish. Very comfortable beer.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BeerChaser0078 (880) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - SEP 23, 2010
750ml Bottle. Very dark brown pour with ruby highlights and a small, short-lived tan head. Aroma is sweet and lactic with notes of chocolate, vanilla and coffee. Flavour is more roasty than the aroma and less sweet and has additional notes of licorice and smoke. Full bodied with low carbonation and a moderate to long roasty, bitter finish. Pretty good overall, pity it doesn’t come in smaller bottles.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 hawthorne00 (1434) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - AUG 11, 2010
750ml bottle. Pours black with a ruby edge. Very lacy beige head. Gentle aroma has toast, vanilla, coffee and a little smoke. Taste has lots of milk sweetness and balancing coffee, citrus and plummy sourness with a not-quite-dry mocha finish. Mouthfeel is the expected velvet. Rather filling - but again, that’s to be expected. A harmonious stout.
