2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 fiulijn (10383) - Como, - DEC 13, 2008
Cask Conditioned at The Crown, London (Brewer St.) Dark amber to brown color. The initial strong caramel aroma fades away. It has a dry caramel flavor, but in the end the ashes and the roasted malt are a bit too evident for me. Ordinary.
2.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 justm (163) - Essex, ENGLAND - MAR 22, 2012
Cask at Blue Boar, Billericay. Pours a chestnut brown with an amber edge and a gentle off-white head. Aroma is very subtle, slightly floral and malty but very faint. It runs rather nicely over the palate however. Tropical fruit flavours shine then collapse quickly into a dry coarse bitterness which also doesn’t hang around for long. The merest of aftertastes leaves you pondering what it actually tasted like and so draws you in to another sip. A firework of a beer that flares, fades, then leaves you wondering whether it was really there in the first place.

Cask, The Larry, Nuneaton, 25/02/12. Cherry red with copper edges under a slim cream top. Sour berry tang aroma. Same taste; aged, acetic, Tunes-like, plain wrong. Bitter afters from nowhere. Hay and faint biscuit. Yuck.

Cask at the Wetherspoons on Victoria Station. Copper coloured with a tight beige head; red fruit aroma; smooth and soft with a rich fruity toffee flavour with lots of depth from deeply roasted malts; the finish is dry with some spicy hops. Very drinkable.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - OCT 5, 2011
Tasted this in The Esquire House, Glasgow (JDW) in October 2007. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear dark mahogany in colour with a thin white head. Strong roast grain the long aroma. Thick creamy delicious mouthfeel and good lacing. Dark malts give digestive malt with smokey overtones and rich overipe figs. Slightly dry leather notes in the bitter aftertaste. Molasses in the sweet warming finish. Tastes like a stronger, better version of Ambeardextrous. Cracking session ale and well recommended.

[Cask at the Three Crowns, Chippenham] Chestnut with a slight white head and no fizz. Some toffee, a hint of vanilla; dry finish with a little sour, earthy bitterness. Somehow made me think of a Greene King seasonal which put me right off.
