On cask at The 3 Judges. Pours a golden brown colour with a decent beige head. Aroma of yeast, caramel and alcohol. Similar flavours with mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Quite malty overall although a little thin.

Tasted this in The Esquire House, Glasgow (JDW) in September 2008. Cask, handpump dispense. Opaque amber in colour with a creamy white head. Floral hops in the short aroma. Good resiny mouthfeel and decent lacing. Pale malts give a warm bread dough flavour with marmalade fruit notes. Bitter hop resins present in a long aftertaste and this continues into the dry woody finish. An ok session bitter.

Cask@Spoons in 2010. Copper colour, small, but steady off-white head. Aroma is caramel malts, some nuttyness as well as some mild wooden notes. Flavour is nutty, caramel malty, mild wooden and some slight crisp maltyness as well. Pleasantly balanced. Good session bitter.

UPDATED: NOV 5, 2011 Cask at Wetherspoons, Chippenham, also bottled from Beartown shop. Light brown / copper, well carbonated (bottle). Strong malt aroma, becoming a tasty but not overpowering fruitiness, slight hint of fruit cake. Good balance of bitterness/flavour.

Gravity, 3rd Hinckley BF. Oooh, ’slight haze’ says the sign on the cask. Like I give a shit. Fully clouded, headless bronze but the aroma and flavour are there. This is a ringer for Corfu Real Ale Special believe it or not; bright apricot and violet-accented floweriness over a bittersweet, nut-hinting digestive biscuit base. Hints of mushroom and chocolate; flowery, jellied orange fruit aroma. Hops and malts dovetailed sweetly. Excellent.

Cask Conditioned handpump Globe Hotel Kings Lynn. A copper coloured beer with a whitish head and lacing. A leafy earthy aroma and a yeasty dishwater type taste with some fruit. Served way too cold and very average.

Cask at a Spoons in Manchester. A hazy amber beer with a dense off-white head, due to being served thru a sparkler. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw, malt, caramel, and grain, leading to a bitter citrusy finish.

A Mes rate: cask at Baker St ’Sporks.
Clean golden colour with a slight brown tinge and a thin off white head. No sparkler! This place is definitely on the up... This is actually really good. A very well balanced blend of big grassy hops with a good citric bite on top of a well behaved biscuit malt base with just a slight hint of caramel. Lovely mineral note in the finish with a restrained but classy dryness on the palate. Superbly drinkable. A really good drop of English. I only stopped in for a quick one on my way home after a few Chimays with Alan but this was a really pleasant surprise. Served in very good condition (as is increasingly the case at this place) and certainly one of the best I have had from Beartown. Yum.
