Magic_dave6 (3476), Glasgow, Scotland May 4, 2008 Cask in the counting house. Aroma is suprisingly sulpgurus, tart dark malt. Taste is similar theres a definate sharpness that unexpected, but does ad to the drinkability. But in general i expected better.

Very dark reddy brown, small light tan head. Rich nutty grainy aroma, some husks. Soft palate. Peanutty and legumy taste. Quite potent late hop taste stays in the mouth for the finish. maeib (3816), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Jun 28, 2008 Cask conditioned - handpump - JDW, Northampton. Wow, what an interesting beer this is. Black with whitish head and lacing. The aroma is really fruity. Citrus and sherbert notes in the nose. And then you get mild roasty flavours and orange fruits in the mouth. Nice hops and good sweetness too. Very drinkable. bobinlondon (207), Harrow, Greater London, England Jun 13, 2008 Updated: Jul 11, 2008Handpulled cask at JDW Watford. The head had large bubbles suggesting that the beer was flat, however it had reasonable carbonation. Colour as name suggests, flavour suggests heavy use of caramel. Some chocolate notes too. Pleasant but nothing special. 2.6 RERATE 11/7/08 JDW Stanmore. This time the beer had far more hop characture and body. Mes_and_Sim (3927), London, Greater London, England May 30, 2008 A Mes rate: Cask at Baker St. ’Sporks. Dark brown with a thin tan head. Coffee, chocolate, roasted malt and a fair bit of caramel are the order of the day. Plenty of fruit. Slight bitterness in the finish. Pretty straight forward but very quaffable and way above the usual serving standards of this way below par (even for a JDW) pub.
