4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 harrisoni (10069) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - MAR 23, 2007
Cask handpull at Thomas Rigby, Liverpool. Pale chestnut colour with lasting beige head. Bit of sickly malt on aroma, but mostly rich strawberry/raspberry and malt aroma. Full in mouth with more strawberry, morphs into creamy hop finish. Hop is balancing and shows some lemon acids to do battle with the rich malt. Rich and hoppy premium bitter and rather stunning.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 hughie (3992) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - APR 1, 2008
Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Golden amber with a small white head. Grassy hop aroma with some buttery malt developing. Delicious sweet malt taste with some spicy nuttiness in the background as well as some sour fruits. Mid bitter finish. Mixed messages on this bear. I thought it was a cracker: so much better than Ginger Bear, presently representing Beartown in the ’Spoons fest.

Pint in the Harker Arms, Chester. Great amber colour with a creamy head. Tangy fruitness and very smooth to drink. This is my second beer from this brewery and im very impressed.

Bottle that dad picked up from Congleton brewery tap (cheers dad), consumed Dinmore, Herefordshire 27-12-09 Pours warm gold with white head. The nose is a little soapy hops. There is some citrus in the mouth, its pleasantly bitter and another step up from the Barnsley beers that we’ve just had. A6 A4 F7 P3 Ov13 3.3

Bottle from Booth’s, Ilkley, West Yorks. Pleasant-drinking, fat-bodied bronze bitter with a fullness of character and a shortbread and faint Turkish Delight quality that reminds me of a) most (non-BrewDog) bottled Scottish beers of 4-5%, b) a crappy, powdery US IPA and C).... peach flavoured Smarties? The peachiness tires quickly I can’t tell tell you what a relief it is after the bottle of Tirril Academy Ale I’ve just poured down the sink.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 chriso (7063) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 3, 2005
Cask (handpump), Brunswick Inn, Derby, July 2005. This is supposed to be a winter beer, so I’m not sure what it was doing out and about in the middle of summer. Perhaps its brewed occasionally at other times or is now a regular beer. Anyway, this is a mid brown, quite full bodied strong bitter at the malty end of the spectrum. Caramel and toffee dominate, with plenty of underlying hoppy bitterness. Despite what’s in the brewery’s description, I did find some residual sweetness which detracted from the appeal for me. Still a decent beer but perhaps it didn’t show at its best on a hot day.

Cask. A hazy amber beer with a dense off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt and nuts. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of nuts as well as medium notes of citrus, leading to a dry nutty finish. The mouthfeel is quite sparkling for a cask ale.
