A deep red beer - almost brown - with a huge light brown head. The aroma is acidic, fruity and roasted. While the flavor balances between sweetness and acidity with notes of roasted malt and hints of butter, leading to a dry end. The mouthfeel is slightly sticky.

Cask Stillage at the Memorial Hall, Northwich 20/09/2003
Black beer, very sweet blackcurrant flavour dominates. This eventually gives way to some roast malt in the lasting finish.
1.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20 RichardGretton (3756) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - AUG 9, 2005
Bottled. Plain weak looking black beer. The aroma is very, very sweet and slightly watery and the flavour is like weak cold coffee with far too much sugar in it. Overall a horrible beer.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 JonMoore (1573) - Loughborough, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JAN 30, 2005
UPDATED: JAN 31, 2005 Cask hand-pump at the Moon and Bell, Loughborough. Near black, tan head. Sweey coffee and malt aroma. Same for the taste, plus dark fruits and liquorice perhaps. Full bodied, chewy in fact, not easily drinkable but worth the effort, and excellent nontheless.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 leaparsons (6323) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - FEB 10, 2004
UPDATED: AUG 10, 2005 Cask, Derby Fest 04. Very much a panda looking beer - very black with a very white head. Aromas are sweet oats and coffee. Flavours also have that oatiness, with lots of sweetness and sourness to finish. The palate is very smooth. Far too sweet for me, hence the low score. Good name, though.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 omhper (15956) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - APR 17, 2003
Sampled cask conditioned at Akkurat, Stockholm, Sweden.
Dark brown with an obvious aroma of black currant winegums. Sweet and estery. Mildly malty with soft mouthfeel. Despite the rather strong black currant flavour it doeesn't go overboard, and manages to stay quite enjoyable. A true oddity.
