Gift from Sj. A definite smell of caramel malts and toffee. The flavr was caramel malt and mild hop. Crisp finish. Decent red / brown pour.

On cask at JDW, Stone. Pours amber with a white head. I don’t know what to make of this, it was very sweet, quite strange but certainly different to many Xmas ales.

Cask (gravity dispense) at the Pigs Ear Beer Festival, London on 6 December 2006. Attractive deep ruby colour with a scant head. Some juicy, chewy berry fruit in the aroma. Rather more of the same in the flavour. Quite succulent. Smooth but not soft with a little herbal bitterness providing some grip. Plenty of presence for 4.5%. Yeah, I liked this one.

Bottle. Bronze with low carbonation. Lovely spiceness with an infusion of herbs. This is a true Christmas beer not jusy one labelled Christmas with nothing distinctive about it. Comlex and very interesting it came as a very pleasant surprise. Check it out.

Cask. Hazy orangey brown with a creamy beige head. Sweet and spicy nose - almost candy-like. Medium body, flat, dominated by odd cake spices overpowering most other flavours. No bitterness. Odd. 200110

Bottle that dad picked up from Congleton brewpub (cheers dad), consumed Dinmore, Herefordshire 27-12-09 Pours reddy brown in fact on second glance maybe its a little darker than that actually. Taste is fruity and tangy with a little Christmas spice its not bad but I’m getting a bit tired of these bottles of run of the mill stuff and need something with a bit more oomphh.
