2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
An unclear orange beer with a disappearing off-white head. The aroma is a dry dusty malt aroma combined with notes of oranges. The flavor has strong notes of alcohol, that burns the mouth, combined with flavors of peach and straw, leading to a dry end.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(Bottle 75 cl) Very unclear, orangey golden with a very small head. Slightly sourish nose. Sweetish, soft malty body and a hint of a brett character - but itís smooth and mellow, not sharp at all. Odd brew, but not unpleasant. 120805

4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottled at RBESG. Clear golden. Cherryish acidic nose. Dry and lightly yeasty with rounded malt character, yet with champagnelike sparkling qualities. Thereís plenty of lactic acid and notes of banana. The flavour is still magnificent, but signs of age are creeping up on it, making the end a bit flat and oxidized.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: APR 1, 2006 (4/1/06, 750ml bottle) Brought home from Portland in 2004, afraid of the condition it was kept in at Johnís after hearing a bad story of another bottle from then. This seemed in decent shape, but it is completely different than my previous rate. Small off-white head, topping a dead-yeast filled murky apple cider body. Aroma is medium sweet, prune, some funk, oak, light cognac, banana. Taste is medium sweet, raisin, yeast, brown sugar, light alcohol, wood, banana. Medium-full body that holds the alcohol well. Evokes a weizenbock. (7/4/8/4/15)
(RBSG2003) Cloudy yellow with medium off-white head. Aroma is barnyard, tart, wow! Taste is mild sweet, yeasty, barnyard (assuming itís possible to taste this quality). Highly carbonated body, acidic. (10/4/7/3/14)

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Opaque golden. Funky, oaky, and flemish-style sour. Strong accents of Norman cider apple, alcohol, tannins and oak. Slight perfumey...funky.

1.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bottled: Orange coloured. Unclear. Has no head. Aroma of fruitextract and soap. Not very pleasant. Is sweet, alcholic and artificial in the flavour. This is definately over the top, but eventhough I find it hard to believe that this has ever been a top class beer.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This beer rocks!
It pours a murky, deep golden hue. Small fizzy white head. Mostly, but not fully diminishing with no lacing.
The aroma is very fruity and mildly malty with overtones of green apple, banana and pear. Undertones of caramel and brown sugar.
This is one well-balanced brew. Fruity and malty up front with blasts of pear, caramel, dark bread and apple. Nice lightly bitter and lightly citrusy hop presence on the backside.
Full-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and lively, but not fizzy carbonation.
Long, very dry, very astringent finish with a mild, tongue numbing bitterness and woodsy flavor at the wee end. I'm not saying that the beer is overly bitter in the finish. My tongue is literally numb! Thanks go out to Trappist Ales Rule for this excellent, world class beer!
