Wild Oats No. 20 Mango Saison • 4.4% alc/vol A collaborative beer by Beau’s and Trou Du Diable, FOUS ALLIÉS is based on a classic, refreshing and snappy saison style, with an intriguing fruit twist. FOUS ALLIÉS underwent a secondary fermentation with the addition of organic mango juice, then even more mango juice was added to more fully capture the true fruit essence. Expect tropical fruit aroma with peppery notes; the flavour is also fruity and faintly tart, with a pleasant, dry finish. Lively carbonation and hints of white pepper accentuate the quaffable character. Delicious mango flavour adds complexity, slight earthiness, and playfulness to the to the presentation.

Sample poured from 600ml bottle. Gold, bubbly appearance. Aroma is light tropical fruit. Taste is rather sweet, with some yeast and tropical fruit. Body was light and refreshing. Overall, rather candy sweet and I'm not sure what mango tastes like but it was unique and enjoyable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at Trou du Diable. Clear pale yellow pour with tons of frothy white foam. Mangos reasonably present in the aroma, light citrusy wheaty notes as well. Taste is light and fruity, fresh grainy flavors, bread dough, malt. Palate is very light and refreshing, with smooth carbonation and a dry finish. Beautiful little beer that I wish was more available.

Bottle at Thirsty & Miserable. Pours a cloudy yellow-gold with an average size diminishing frothy white head. Aroma of lightly tart citrus fruit, some herbs, honey and malt. Sweet flavour of yeast, herbs, some honey, light hops, malt and some fruit (mango and more). Average bodied. Slightly too sweet for my personal taste but still an enjoyable beer and one I’d happily have again.

Pours a cloudy light straw with a small white mist that quickly disappears. Aroma is a light peppery with straw. Mild fruit coming through as well. Taste is again small pepper and grain. I’m having a hard time picking up the mango but I do pick up some light tropical fruit, like a tropical fruit drink but very subtle. Nice saison.

[4439-20120602] Tap. Burnt paper and light apple shavings aroma. Hazy, light orange brown body with a quick bubbly white head. Toasted dry mango strips flavour has a sweet finish. Medium body. Average, has quite a bit of sweetness. (6/3/6/3/13) 3.1

Draught @ Trou du Diable. Cloudy and pale, with a hint of mango. Lots of fresh malts, bright mango and maybe some spice but not as much as some of their other beers (TDD, I mean). The mango comes through nicely in the finish.

courtesy of a fellow ratebeerian I just can’t remember the name... - quite pale golden beer with a modest head retention; earthy aroma with notes of oranges and exotic fruits; medium-bodied; slightly acidic; dry and with an aftertaste of mango and bitter oranges

On draught at Burger Bar. Cloudy pale yellow-gold with no head. Papery sickly sweet aroma of overripe tropicsl fruit with yeast and a hint of grass. The taste is over-sweet thick saison. The body is thick, the carbonation is weak, the finish is quick. Not my thing, but my wife quite liked it. ---Rated via Beer BADASS for iPhone

A hazed blonde saison with a thin white head. In aroma, pleasant mix of mango pulp and spices, coriander, orange peels, nice. In mouth, a smooth sweet malt with ginger extract, curacao, mango, a bit too sweet. On tap at Arrow and Loon, May 30 2012.

Not getting much from this one. Nose is faint some yeast, some pepper and very light hint of fruit. Mouth has initial pepper hit with some mango in the middle and a peppery finish. Pours cloudy straw no head after a few minutes and almost no lacing. Was hoping for more from an interesting collaboration..
