COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
To create this Barrel-Aged Blend of our Spring Seasonal Beaver River, we drew off a portion of a few batches of Beaver and aged it in a variety of bourbon, wheat whisky and brandy barrels. Generously dry hopped and then blended back into our award winning IPA in a ratio of 1:5, the barrel-aging adds an orchestra of boozy, hop and wood aromas with flavour to match. Pair this beer with starry nights and campfires. (Available in limited quantities exclusively at the Beau’s retail store.)

2013-01-18 - with blankboy, jercraigs & mabel - Cloudy and bubbly amber-tinged gold with a huge lasting fluffy/pillowy off-white head. Aroma is floral and vaguely tree/tropical fruit sweet with maybe a whisper of oak tannin - mild. Taste is very nice indeed - follows the aroma, but more fruit and citrus, decent restraint to the barrel, some alcohol - average body, medium finish, and frankly the rest of my notes are just silly ;)

[5074-20130118] 650 bottle. Grainy wood aroma has a bunch of fruitiness in the aroma. Slightly hazy, orange brown body with a huge long-lasting creamy off-white head. Bitter sweaty needle flavour has a lingering bitter aftertaste. Medium-full body. Good. (7/3/7/3/14) 3.4

pours hazy dark golden with a very nice frothy off-white head, good retention and lacing. off-graininess, citrusy, metallic, bland fruitiness and toastiness, very light woody notes along with citrusy-strawberry fading hops, some sweetness, almost cloying. average carbonation, but kind of disturbing, as in too much bottle refermentation. non-barreled aged version is clearly a stronger brew.

Bottle [600ml] shared with HogTownHarry, jerc & mabel -- c/o j&m. Pours a hazy golden-orange with a large lasting rocky white head and with some lacing on the glass. Aroma is lightly sweet along with light hops, pale malt, light oak and citrus. Flavour of caramel malt, grain, light hops, light oak and an average bitter finish. Average bodied. Not much was added by the barrel-aging, which I don’t mind, but overall it’s just "good".

2012-01-18. Lightly hazy bright orange body with a large foamy off white head and lace. 3++ Modest aroma, muted citrus and musty dusty quality to it. 7++ Flavour is similar, nice citrusy hops, lightly musty oaky touches. Pleasant bitterness. 7+ Average plus body with suitable carbonation. Decent, not particularly strong barrel character to it’s benefit. Enjoyable. 3+ Bottle via trade with cfrancis

Bottle, thank you Colin! Medium orange, frothy bubbly white head. Wood, fruit, some vanilla, more citrus in pleasant aroma. Taste is pretty good - sweetness up front, light tingly body, giving way to a nice amount of citrus hop bitterness and warming alcohol. I was worried the body might be too light for a barrel, but they did a very nice job of blending and achieving balance here. Gets more bitter on subsequent sips. A fine effort.

Pours a cloudy copper with nice big white head that sticks around leaving nice lace up the glass. Aromas of Veggie/herbal hops, sweet malt and some oak. Flavours consist of medium bitter grassy/earthy hops, some malty sweetness and alight oak flavour.

Thanks to cfrancis for this one. Pours a murky orangish copper with a huge frothy off white head that leaves a lot of lace. Aroma is very earthy and grassy, woody and a hint of whisky. Taste is slightly oaky with a bunch of earthy and grassy hops that dominate this beer and a slight sweetness on the finish. Interesting barrel aged IPA.

Hazy dark orange pour with a white head. Aroma was hoppy, but had an underlying odor of plastic and Styrofoam. Like the hops went weird or something. There was some resinous hop aroma, but the weird plastic smell overpowered. Really unpleasant to smell. Flavor was better. Resinous hops, dry, and a little boozy. Some wood notes and maybe a hint of bourbon, but not much. This one was verging on messy. Not my favorite.

600 ml bottle. Pours a clear pale orange amber with a resilient white head. Smell is very hoppy, herbal. Taste is fresh cereal, caramel, sweet. Some herbal, citrusy bitterness. Bitterness grows on, lots of grapefruit and lime. Oak is perceptible, although it feels young, fresh. It’s very subtle. Medium bodied, foamy, almost creamy mouthfeel. Solid IPA.
